This company constantly asked me to work extra hours, affecting my home life. I have 2 young children, and a 10 hour shift could easily turn into a 12+ hour shift, with threat of abuse and neglect if I had to leave to take care of my family! This company thrives on taking care of yourself so you can care for the people you are in charge of, but they underpay and abuse their employees! They're so understaffed that they will abuse their employees while not considering the care of their clients. I've seen clients and staff suffer from this company. Do not send your loved ones and do not work for this company!
I’m still working here for almost 2yrs. I like working here with adults houses but i hope they will give staffs the option to work weekdays only. Not everyone can work weekends.
I was starting orientation as a new nurse. I found Abertina Kerr very organized with a good training program. Unfortunately the staff in the orientation phase from HR we're not very friendly. They acted annoyed with questions. They were condescending to new staff at times. Because of this reason I decided not to stay with them. If they are this rude during orientation what will it be like on the actual job site?
Nice meals for benefit luncheons. Fun to see old fashioned glassware and collectibles in their shop. Good deals on clothing at their resale shop in the adjoining parking lot. Parking is limited and neighborhood streets extremely crowded so go early ava expect to walk a block or two as it gets very busy. Reservations are necessary. Awesome desserts!
I always find good vintage clothing pieces at Albertina's. Today I bought a vintage wool cardigan. In the past I found my dining table and a 1912 library table I use as a desk. Shopping there contributes to the work of the Albertina Kerr organisation. The volunteers are joyful and fun.
Great place for lunch or brunch then shopping for discounted used clothing, jewelry, sterling and China boutique items. This December their annual half price sale "talked me onto" a marvelous quality painting by a well known California artist!
The dining room is wonderful. Great fresh entrees served by an all volunteer staff. Don't miss the consignment stores. All profits go to their many programs serving those in need.
was there for a month and def the worst month of my life
You would think that an organization that purports to help individuals with disabilities would be at the forefront of making reasonable accommodations to employ people who are disabled. Unfortunately this is not the case. The statistics on employment for adults are rather sobering as systemic albeism continues to impact their lives. It is my hope that Albertina Kerr will work to address the way that their own biases in hiring practices contributes to this crises.
Albertina's Kitchen, now closed. Portland's finest citizens volunteered there.
