Dr Koil is the best. He’s very kind and helpful and listens. He also goes above expectations and has called after appointments to check in to see how my kids are doing following concerns.
I taken both my kids here since birth. The both doctors I've scheduled with have been wounderful. Not perfect, one was always running late but her care was never rush and always great. The main one I use has a long wait time but we really like her. She treat my kids with kindness and professionalism. Other providers I recently tried due to closer location were not helpful and didn't prescribe anything to help speed up the illness. There were option based on the diagnosis they said but they refused. I'm switching back to journey. Good thing I can.
We have been with Journey Pediatrics for about 9 years. I used to love the staff and environment, but lately when trying to schedule an appointment they never have availability. The staff upfront are very rude and unprofessional. The staff in back are no better. They expect you to be on time to your appointments, but they are allowed to run an hour without explanations or apologies. I had to take time out of my work day to be here and got told I could reschedule if I didn't want to wait. The audacity this person had to even ask me, considering it takes months to get in. I value my time and theirs, which is why I showed up on time. I just wish they did the same. Unfortunately, I will be looking else where to receive proper and professional care for my children. This place has really gone down hill. I wish the old staff was still here.
We see Dr. Mason for my child. My child is Autistic so finding good doctors hasn't always been easy. Dr. Mason is wonderful. She is very patient and kind with his questions and process. I highly recommend her and Journey Pediatrics in general.
Inaccurate billing and unprofessional staff. My child threw up on the way to a wellness check. I told the provider he just threw up, due to my concern of receiving vaccines at the wellness check. The provider “educated” me on vomiting I.e. symptoms of dehydration and “treated” my child. I was given the option to administer vaccines or not after the “education” I received. I opted to wait. When I received my bill, I was charged $0 copay for the wellness check, but $30 copay for the “office visit.” The Business Manager, Dawn, explained because I was “educated and my child was treated for nausea” it also was billed to my insurance as an office visit. I was extremely disappointed with this response and that the practice considered my concerns to proceed with vaccines as an office visit. I even used the Journey website “symptom checker” and my child’s one time vomiting doesn’t even recommend an office visit! What can a parent even ask at a wellness check?! The provider also asked if I needed any prescription refills. I stated a different child needed one. The provider wrote the prescription for the wrong child! I voiced my concerns with Dawn and she stated it was an error, but tried to say since my first child had those same symptoms 3 years ago it was okay to bill my insurance for that prescription. I asked for further policy regarding writing prescriptions for the wrong patient and Dawn stated “to remove her from this conversation.” Not an answer I should receive from a Business Manager.
Yes, this place is hard to get in to, but it is because it's the best pediatric care in Albuquerque. My child has seen Dr. Chelsea Sanchez and Dr. Sawicki several times, and they are both exceptional doctors as well as moms. We are always treated kindly by the staff. As a new Mom these doctors have helped me immensely! If you can get in, just go here!
We’ve seen Dr. Melissa Sanchez for a few years now and absolutely love her. She’s so patient and kind with our son. We’ve never felt rushed and she answers all of questions and we have a lot. Today we met Dr. Koil, and he was just as wonderful! The quality of medicine here is excellent.
I came to this office when I was a kid up until I was 18 it was great, the doctors actually listened to your problem and provided information, after care and alternatives. I’m now 23 and a certified medical assistant, I’ve took my son here for the first 2 years of his life and just to keep it simple. You will receive better medical advise, attention and support anywhere else except here. Unless you’re looking for a place to ignore your concerns this is the place. Every time I knew something more could be done I ask the doctor I worked for, so they never heard anything from me personally. This is just 100% experience.
We have been seeing Dr. Koil for nearly 5 years and he and the staff are amazing. He takes the time to make my children feel at ease and talks to them about how to be a good person in addition to general health issues they can understand. My children actually look forward to going to the doctor and ask when they can go again. It could be the suckers and stickers they get at the end of the visit, but I doubt it! My kids love him. We also see Dr. Sanchez and she is an excellent doctor as well. My daughter is at that age where she doesn’t like strangers, won’t go with them, let them touch her, etc. Dr. Sanchez was very patient with her; she always talks and interacted in a calm and fun way that eventually won her over. My daughter also had a recent illness that required her to be on oxygen for a few weeks. Dr. Sanchez called and checked on her daily and was available for every thing we needed. Both doctors have seen my children through emergent and non emergent issues and I appreciated their care and patient teaching and parent teaching in every instance. The receptionists are always kind and ask how we are doing and the medical assistants are beyond competent, very kind, and great with kids as welland this matters because they give shots! I have not met one person in our time there that has not only put me at ease, but also impressed me! The only catch is that you really do have to call a few months ahead for regular appointments unless it is urgent, then you get the nurse line and they call back same day or get you in to see a doctor or NP that day. They are busy because they are amazing and if it allows my children to have such exceptional care, it’s really not a big ask for me to remember to mark a calendar and call ahead for appointments.
Worst experience ever!!!! My kids Doctor is retiring and so I call to schedule an annual exam to establish with the practice. The practice requires you to call daily to set up a new patient appointment. Every sign day from 05/31 to 06/10 they still don't have their new patient sloth open. NO CARE OR CONCERN FOR OTHER'S SCHEDULES!!!! Worst Practice Ever. Will NEVER use your services!!!!
