Come on a tour to learn the true haunted history of Old Town Alexandria, VA! Footsteps to the Past specializes in tours that take you out of the ordinary, to tell you the little-known but revealing stories of our former residents.

Story

Miss Betty, the owner of this family-operated business, is a native Alexandrian and ninth-generation Virginian who has spent untold hours of research on the historic home town of George Washington and Robert E. Lee.

HISTORICAL HAUNTS: Tour departs from the Ramsay House Visitor Center on the corner of King and Fairfax Streets in Alexandria, VA. This is an original, entertaining walk that even the skeptic will enjoy. Hear about friends of George Washington and the ghoulish medical practices of the 18th Century. Don't forget your camera - you'll be surprised at what might appear in your pictures!!

60 min Adults $10; $5 ages 7-12. Purchase tickets during the half hour before the tour or call to make reservations.

Wednesday - Sunday: 7:00 PM
Friday - Saturday: 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM

Times listed above are for the public tour season from May through September. October and November will have public tours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only. Special tours can be arranged for groups of six or more.

ALEXANDRIA SPIRITS: Tour departs from northeast corner of King and Alfred Streets (in front of Bittersweet restaurant)A lead paranormal investigator will explain some of the equipment used in a paranormal investigation and accompany you on a walk to documented haunted sites. Bring a camera!

HISTORY TOUR: Did you know…that Alexandria was the most important Scottish city of the 1750s…that a 17 year-old apprentice surveyor assisted in laying out the town and that he was already a hero 15 years before the Revolutionary War…or that Alexandria, located 200 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, was once this country's westernmost seaport?

A fascinating, educational and entertaining 90-minute walking tour to many of Old Town's significant landmarks and little known sites. You will learn about the early history of Alexandria -- the city where George Washington slept, dined, shopped, paid taxes, voted, danced, trained and drilled troops, influenced politics, and established his reputation as a man of impeccable integrity.

This tour runs Monday through Saturday every week at 1:30 PM. Tickets can be bought at 1:30 at the Visitor Center.

Cost: Adults $15; Ages 7-12 $5.
