Aliiolani School

I was a student there, 1941-1944. My father A Navy civil engineer civilian given a "field promotion" to Lt jg in 1942 was transferred stateside in 1944 and we came with him on a Navy transport. In California I was a year ahead by grade level! The schools were at least partially segregated "English standard" and something else at that time. Very competent teachers and competitive students - I remember Japanese-Americans, a Cherokee, and others. There was a "Schoolboy Patrol" under the direction of a police officer that stopped traffic on the adjacent main street. I have a BSc degree from Caltech, and one of my licenses is for traffic engineering.

Awesome principal who inspires his faculty and students to do their best. There are so many wonderful and new things going on.
