Allen's Cut Rate Perfumers

The last time I went there to buy something, I decided to never go back. It happened a while back but I'mma share it now. The store is usually cramped with merchandise and he follows customers... Which makes the store feel more cramped than it is. Many people I know stopped going for that reason alone. But what did it for me was his treatment of an older Hispanic customer. It was obvious she didn't know English and in a thick Spanish accent she asked for a scratch ticket. Her accent was thick but her request was still audibly recognizable. He got visibly upset at her accent. He started to hyperfocus on correcting her English. Each condescending attempt he made at making her pronounce it right... She genuinely tried. As a customer she just wanted to get the scratch ticket and leave but as a business owner he was setting a learning and language obstacle to her purchase. None of her attempts seemed satisfactory enough to get him to stop. In fact, he seemed more annoyed with each try. The whole thing was uncomfortable. I didn't know the lady but even I was getting annoyed at this waste of time and energy. He obviously lacks the patience and knowledge to teach Hispanic customers English. He also lacked manners. So it was highly inappropriate. As he grew more and more visibly dissatisfied with her pronunciation he gave up and scolded her for not knowing the language. Then he told her to go learn English. The whole situation showed a major lack of interpersonal skills and intra-personal skills. He was not capable of emotionally regulating himself in a customer service setting leading him to give degrading customer service. It was a very unprofessional way to handle a communication issue, ESPECIALLY when he and everyone else understood what she was requesting. He prolonged a customer interaction and threw extra unregulated energy her way cuz he was triggered by her accent. I didn't say anything the whole time cuz I was frozen tryna process what was going on. I wanted to make sure that what I was perceiving wasn't just a misunderstanding. And it definitely wasn't. So I decided to never go back. I hope that since the incident he has changed his business practices. Cuz that was definitely not ok.
