Seats keep getting smaller. Found out I couldn't carry on a bag because I was "economy coach". Flight didn't cost any less and had to spend $50 both ways for our flight just for bags. Not enough airline choices to avoid this problem since most of them do this now.

I HATE american airlines. I go to college on the other side of the U.S. I always have trouble either getting back to school or going home. Usually they try to blame it on the weather but I'm convinced that American Airlines is always disorganized and try to cut costs wherever they can. Either the pilot is missing or something on the airplane is broken and they have to wait for repairs. My TV almost never works. The staff is always rude and condescending. After having to spend money of my own on hotels or being stuck in Miami for 24 hours in the airport with no change of clothes, I will NEVER use American Airlines again. Save yourself some heartache and choose Southwest or Delta.

It was a pleasure getting through the very short line. The service was quick and very friendly

I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life today. I arrived 40 minutes before my flight out of Sacramento and was told that it was too late to get on the flight by the woman at the self-check in kiosk. I had no baggage to check. I was referred to the lady at the counter who was very helpful but explained that they had just changed the policy effective today, that they now required 45 minutes check in time. She tried to book me on a later flight, but had computer problems. At this point, two different managers came and tried to fix it. The second one to come, whose name was Michelle, was very rude and took my info back into the office in back. I then was made to wait for almost an hour without any information about what was going on. When Michelle finally came back, I had been waiting for a total of an hour and 15 minutes trying to get this resolved. She curtly told me that I could not take the flight that I was initially offered. She made no apology, no acknowledgement of keeping me waiting for well over any reasonable amount of time. I complained to her about this and she became agumentative, at which point I pulled out my camera on my phone to video tape the encounter. She put her hand up and said, "I don't want to be filmed" and then walked out the door and said nothing more. I'm currently waiting for the very much later flight I got put on standby for. But I was just told that the plane has "three broken seats" and therefore it is not likely I'll be able to get on it. Needless to say I am extremely frustrated to find that the public perception of AA is accurate, and I will never again fly on this airline. I've never been treated this way by any airline in my life.

Decent airline as long as you bring your own food and entertainment.
