My mom wanted to gift me a window repair & storm window as a housewarming gift. We were told to come to American Heritage, so Emoli came out, measured, and sent a quote a couple days later. My mom came to their shop to ask a couple basic questions then pay for the service, but the man Philip, I believe was impatient with her questions, began getting frustrated, and ultimately told her that this project was not worth his time. Terrible customer service. As a business owner, you should have the patience and knowledge to concisely and clearly explain the project outline to anyone. Yet he literally asked my mom, “Why are you asking so many questions?” And then turned us down. My mom was disappointed and I’m disappointed in this company for treating her so poorly. It’s not difficult to be kind.
Very poor customer service. I spent $14,000 replacing window sashes and storm windows on my house about 5 years ago from American Heritage. While putting up the storm windows this year I accidentally broke the corner key on the glass window. This part is worth 50 cents. I went to American Heritage to pick up a new corner key, and was told they had them in stock, but they couldn't give me one. OK, I said I would be happy to buy one, but I was told I couldn't do this because the receptionist wasn't in until the afternoon. I gave my phone number, but didn't receive a call. In the end I called their competitor and they gave me this part for free, no questions asked.
People told us that American Heritage was "the gold standard" of craftsmanship in Salt Lake City. This may have been true some time ago, but it is not true anymore. We should have known we were in for a bad ride when, after charging us $25 for an initial site visit, American Heritage failed to show up / had forgotten that they had ever made an appointment with us. Hire American Heritage if you enjoy paying a large amount of money for insultingly bad customer service, all sorts of cost-cutting measures, and workmen that go rogue on your project.
In many facets of our lives, craftsmanship is a lost art. This is not the case when dealing with American Heritage Window Rebuilders and Phil Kearns. Saving the true character in our 1925 Salt Lake City home was extremely important to us. Energy savings and increased comfort in our home was as important. The window options, and solutions that American Heritage Window Rebuilders provided was just what we were looking for! This is a company that truly stands behind their work. Highly Recommended!!
Very horrible follow up. The owner came and looked at my house, very nice and knowledgeable. He even took one of my storm windows and offered to repair it for me. I did not hear back rom them. When I called two weeks later, a confused lady answered and did not know anything about me. I kept calling about the bid-nothing. I asked for my storm window back in both email and voice mail. No response Finally, 6 weeks later I received a bid via email. I said, What is the next step, and my I have my storm window back?" No response. I went with another company and was happy. AVOID THEM! If you do talk to anyone, please tell them to give my storm window back.
I do not have a problem with their work. They replaced three bottom sashes for us and it all turned out fine. The problem I have is there total disrespect for customers. Twice I have tried to give them business and they have completely blown us off. Over a year ago I wanted them to come back and fabricate some storm windows and repair a picture window. They claimed they were too busy to do anything anytime soon...no problem. Later, I submitted the request again and they never followed up. This year I tried again to get them resubmit a bid. I sent them the info they asked for to Emoli and never heard from them again. All we ask is a little professionalism. If you do not want our business let us know.
I have worked with the great people from American Heritage Windows and have found them to be professional and very timely in rebuilding my historical home Windows. Beautiful and just exactly like the old ones, but better! Thanks again! I will use and refer them to my friends and neighbors.
This has been a horrible experience. From over billing by several thousands of dollars to not honoring a settlement. I would never recommend this company to anyone ever.
Amazing family owned local company that can handle anything you throw at them
Best windows in town!
