This Legion has regular events inside and outside the Club room. Watch this page for activities and events.
First formed under another name in 1919, Post 24 has existed as Post 24 since 1920. In 1929, WW I veterans restored and preserved the 18th and 19th Century three buildings that form Gadsby's complex. In 1972, Post 24 gave the complex to the City of Alexandria and now occupy one building. A museum and Gadsby's Tavern occupy the other two buildings. We call it George Washington's Post because visiting Post 24 means seeing buildings that were visited by three centuries of American veterans.
Support of veterans, children and youth, Americanism, and other American Legion goals. We also offer a "safe," affordable place to relax, socialize, and contribute along with your comrades.
Old Town location. Active, educated, skilled, talented members. We provide veteran and community service. The Clubroom offers food and beverage and easy going friendship.
The Club Room is open:

Also open on additional days for veterans' holidays and other special events.
PLEASE NOTE: Our current roster of volunteer bartenders have full-time jobs in addition to volunteering at the Clubroom. Please be patient as they fight traffic to open on time. During inclement weather, when the Alexandria Public Schools are closed, the Post will also be closed.
