On May 30th 2022 just about 5 weeks ago I had a house fire. My house burned down, we lost everything, it was my mothers house, sadly she passed away 1 1/2 ago so house was left to myself & 2other siblings I come from family of 8 children wthin last 6 yrs my mother & father I lost 2 brothers, my only brothers, & 4sisters, & my mother & 1of my sister wthin 6months, Lost my brother in law whom was more like a brother to me, in car crash, As if life wasn’t hard enough tryn to go on wth life wth all love ones we lost, & still in the grieving process…. & Our family home burned dwn, Just finding out fire dept is supposed to contact RC , They nevr did…. Not until a week into staying at hotel we called Red Cross, we didn’t really know wht to do, who to go for help, til we told by friends & others to call Red Cross, We did & they did come to hotel we Wer staying at, we thought wow I can’t believe Red Cross is going really help us!!! Lol they did nothing, gv us a debit card for $5.15 tht keep declining, the hotel would only approve $400 so we had to put the differences in, which the hotel is $769 a wk We Heard from other fire victims that Lawrence residence are gtn help paying their rent while we are getting no help or assistance, all Red Cross has done for Lowell ma residence , all they done is gving us resources to reach out to, and everyone we try to contact with just keeps coming up as a dead end … We’re dwn to empty pockets & lost and confused with no help to back us up… I thought RC is supposed to help family through disaster difficult times …. I’ve donated to Red Cross several times and also volunteered many times they do not help victims fire victims like u hear or think…that they left us hanging & already closed our case… NOW WHT?????
The instructor probably thought he did an effective job of teaching but made a point of being condescending. He focused on the nurses for answers and then spoke to them as if they were 5 year olds. He spoke to the whole class as if we were 5 year olds. He was dismissive, loud, and arrogant. When it came time to send us our certificates, he ended up sending me the CPR/First Aid/ AED one and not the BLS one I had just taken. Luckily, the woman I spoke with at the ARC, fixed the situation for me and sent me my BLS certificate. I'm going back to the AHA way of teaching. Good Luck.
They teach a babysitting class for tweens here. It's a great class and the staff is very welcoming. There isn't much parking outside, but people often use the no parking zone if it's for a short period.
They do many good things and are in an area that could use some help.
