Speak to your insurance before paying them anything. My insurance notified them that they would be paying for both of the sleep studies. Now they owe me almost $900 that they took from me as well as from my insurance and I can’t even get them to call me back. I am waiting on this refund so i can now buy my c-pap machine that my insurance is actually not going to be paying for. It’s been over 2 weeks and still no call back. I’m starting to think their billing manager “Jennifer” doesn’t exist.
Let me start by saying that they are located in a dark dingy basement of a building that is very creepy! It has been several years since I have been to see the doctor, but I needed to see him in order for him to write my prescription for my CPAP machine recall, so I could get a new machine. I brought in my report from my CPAP, it appeared that the machine was working as it showed no problems. But the Dr. came in saw me for 5 minutes and just told me that I had to come in a do another sleep study at a cost of over $600! And billed me $200 for the 5 minute visit! All I wanted was him to write me the CPAP prescription for my machine! So I am sure that it would have costed me well over $1,000 just in office visits and sleep study, just so he could rewrite my same prescription, just so I can pay another $1,000 for a new machine! This Dr. doesn't seem to have any bedside manner, plus I get the feeling he couldn't care less, it's all about making money for him! Find a different sleep doctor!
Had a sleep study in Aug and paid with a FSA card, been calling repeatedly for over 3 weeks attempting to get ahold of someone to get an itemized statement to show proof without success!
While I love Dr. Almasalkhi, American Sleep Medicine not so much. They owe me a refund and I have been trying to get it for 3 months. I have called the billing company 12 times and each time they tell me that someone will call me back that day. Has yet to happen!!! Time for the next step.
I have been a patient since 2016 and somehow I am now a patient of, Norton Pulmonary group. I just found this out, as I called, American Sleep to inquire about a prescription my supply company is trying to get updated with my correct machine pressure. I’ve not had any good experiences with this office since my sleep study- but stayed with them because I didn’t want to go through another sleep study. The staff has always been rude and snarky. I am actually quite thankful that they sent my patient file with, Dr. Khan @ Norton Pulmonary! I already spoke to a VERY nice lady that answered their phones and she was BEYOND helpful. Don’t wast your money nor your time at, American Sleep. They definitely don’t have good bedside manners, and obviously they will not inform you of any changes that would affect your supply refills, etc. I hope this helps at least one person- because it’s a travesty when you can’t get good healthcare anymore.
***DO NOT RECOMMEND. PLEASE CONSIDER SOMEWHERE ELSE*** I feel like someone has fooled me. Not because of the results of my study, but because of the process. The cost and expenses were not clear upfront. As well as where I get the equipment from wasn't explained to me, but I was forced to make a decision the night of my study. My brother-in-law had a better and a more engaging experience elsewhere. The doctor was nice, but is a separate entity to American Sleep Medicine. Be prepared to be billed over and over again from multiple places. The receptionist was pushy about an appointment without allowing me time to think over the cost. The total cost and expectations of cost was not explained to me. They are not transparent with what is going on and when I called to discuss my concerns one person continued to speak over me and of the THREE times I I have requested I have yet to receive a call back.
I arrived to a locked, lights out office at my appointment time. When they did open I suspect after witnessing this morning's staff chaos in the waiting room and reading the web reviews while waiting this is the puppy mill of sleep disorders. A frozen mystery to me is if you do sleep studies how can you be completely staff free at 8:30 AM? Is there absolutely no one left over from the night before? Maybe not on Wednesday nights going into Thursday morning? Front desk person frantically tried to cover everything while other staff stood behind her and stared as if they were mentally willing her to go faster. I waited 50 minutes after they opened before giving up, not seeing a doctor. If referred by your physician, ask for an alternate plan. Then whoever/wherever you schedule with ask if you will be able to purchase your CPAP supplies anywhere or if you must purchase through their sister company before showing up the other reviews indicate you do not have that option here, but I do not have personal experience. I regret filling out and submitting all the paper work with my personal and confidential information. I fear there could be unsavory characters in this operation. Zero stars, but the only option is to leave one star. Tell your referring doctor and tell your insurance provider.
To be honest, I first came to this place about 10 years ago and after my original sleep study and getting my CPAP, I didn't come back mostly because I didn't know that regular appointments were an expectation, but also because the doctor back this was a bit rude... When my CPAP machine crapped out on me recently 10 years isn't a bad run I guess, I returned and have gotten nothing my exception care. Diane is always super helpful and receptive to my needs whenever I call the office and Dr. A is quick and responsive. The reason I am most grateful is because when I had COVID in early December and was anxious about possible breathing issues developing which they didn't, they were reassuring, educated me on issues related to my health, COVID, sleep apnea, etc, and adjusted my pressure to a range that gave me peace of mind and much better sleep than the nights prior to making the call.
Pam Starr is amazing from the starting process to the final results. She goes above and beyond to do what she can to help all. Thank you for everything AMS does for patients and staff. I wouldn't recommend any other Sleep Facility.
The nurse I worked with the night of my study was excellent. The doctor really seemed like he could care less and just had to go through the motions. I was not informed that the doctor bull separately or given any costs for that and weeks later all the sudden a bill shows up for the "services" from the doctor. $240 for the ten min total the doctor actually spent with me. This place is scamming people. Don't go here. Ask for a referral elsewhere.
