Friendly, caring staff. We have fearful dogs and they're incredibly patient and kind with them. They're also great with our FIV+ cats including an excellently performed tooth extraction. Highly recommend.
Brought our newly adopted adult cat here for a checkup, and was very pleased with the service we received. The staff answered our questions and explained the rationale behind their recommendations, all while being very compassionate to our cat. We'll come here in the future for sure!
While slightly more expensive than other vets in smaller Iowa towns, this place has been great for my corgi over the past 4 years. They are very accommodating and helpful, always taking calls when I have health questions for my dog even if I don’t need to come in.
Gave them close to $400 on different test and medications for my cat to have them say idk and send me to another vet. It was a simple UTI. Poor communication. I was told to bring my cat in to stay the day and I was called 30 minutes later saying they couldn’t do anything with her due to her antibiotics. Then why was I told to bring her in? I regret taking my pet here and will NEVER go back. Recommend going to pet medical center.
Vet was rude, treated me like iv never owned a cat before. Also treated me like a child. I was looking up a picture of the vaccination records on my phone while she was talking and she stopped in the middle of her sentence every time i looked at my phone! Also tried to charge me for everything possible, I do not recommend.
I've been taking my two cats to Ames Pet Hospital for the past four years after researching the best vets/clinics. It's changed hands a few times since I started taking my cats there but my cats and I have always received great care both in the clinic and doing curbside during the pandemic you call, techs come out and collect your pets, you can wait or return when you get a call from the Vet, then you pay over the phone, get your pets, get a copy of the receipt and brief overview of the visit, and on this visit, new tags. VERY affordable for a wellness/vaccines, and it only takes about 30-45 min for both of them for about $250 total. Booking is easy--but best to call they have the option to schedule online but I've never had good luck. I've had Dr. Moeller the past couple of visits curbside and while we've never met face-to-face, she always goes over each visit and if there's anything to keep an eye on, etc. My cats are healthy so it's usually a short talk. Definitely will continue to take my cats to Ames Pet Hospital! FYI: They no longer board animals as of Nov 2022 when I called. :
Had a great experience with bringing in my cats, and am planning to use their services for all my upcoming vet visits!
Dr. Weyhing did a WONDERFUL job with our elderly cat who was far past due for a veterinary appointment. Our cat's previous appointment was traumatic because she was frightened, but today's appointment with Dr. Weyhing was not stressful. We really appreciate his patience and gentle manner.
Great experience for my dog and I! Very kind and helpful people who work there
All of the staff are great, super friendly, and helpful. I've been taking my two dogs here for the past two years and have always had wonderful experiences.
