I first went to Amie's back in 2009 looking for a salon. There are a couple of things to be said about her shop. #1 They are very friendly. Don't be put off if each one of them doesn't greet you. Usually, they will, but sometimes they're preoccupied. #2 The look of the shop is not indicative of the quality of work. It's a hair shop. They do hair in there. It doesn't need to be the most visually appealing for your hair to look amazing! They put their time into what they do...HAIR! #3 The prices are reasonable. #4 If you go at off-peak times, they potentially could have 2 people on your head at once drastically minimizing the time you have to sit and wait! #5 If you happen to meet her kids, they're precious!
Been coming here for about 4 years now, I keep telling myself to not go back but this week experience put the icing on the cake. I wanted individual braids. I came in at 8, Amie the owner started my hair did 6 braids then another last came in, took over and started my hair. They were talking to each other and the lady told Amie that she was doing my hair wrong, that the braids were going to be uneven. Okay, so once my hair was done around 2:30, she dipped my hair and I was on my way. The next day I woke up to fix my hair and I noticed my braids were different sizes, some braids had knots in them, some were cut to size of the other braids,. My hair looked a hot mess on the ends, I can't even wear my hair in a pony tail because it looks so ragey. I called her and asked her did she use two different types of hair in my hair and she told me she did. That's why some of my braids were nappy and matted and the others were fine. My hair looks horrible. It does not look like I went to the shop. It look likes I got it done by a random girl on the streets, and I paid 160 for this bullshit.. DO NOT GO HERE.
I really had high hopes for this place but honestly it is one of the worse hair braiding salons I've been to. First off I wanted jumbo box braids like Janet Jackson from poetic justice but they just end up being chunky on the top and thin on the bottom. So basically they don't look as full as they should. To include to that I was the first one there and left after 2 people who came in after me. I got there at 8am and didn't leave till 4pm because the lady that was doing my hair was working on other people as well. If you ever got jumbo box braids before it should take at the most 4 hours. Also when I called on the phone to make an appointment she told me $120 but when i got done she said $160. I will not go to this place again . I highly suggest anyone that wants box braids GO TO ANOTHER SALON
This is one of the most professional places I been to in the last four years. They make you feel at home and depending on what you want They will determine to lower the price and that is very helpful. I don’t see any other salon to doing that.
I highly recommend not coming here. Complete waste of overpriced money. Get told different prices; fixed prices. My braids came out a week after I got them....I got them fixed and they're STILL coming out. Do not I repeat DO NOT go here. You can tell the service just by looking at the place.
