No point in making a reservation. Made one for 8:15pm, got there at 7:50pm. All was fine, me and my friend was seated and had our order taken. 30 minutes past still no food, 50 minutes past, no food. Waitress comes to us and informs us the order wasn’t put in and will take another 10 minutes. 10 minutes go by, now it’s been 20 more minutes still no food. Left and went to get pizza.
Prior to meeting up with friends at the Restaurant Amuse, we settled down for drinks. I just had to write a review as the bartender michele? was fantastic. Not only did she serve wonderfully prepared drinks, she came up with creative suggestions for the non drinker in the group. I've only visited Philly on business, but she was such a wealth of information about the town, I wish to return for pleasure due to the ambassadorship of the town, the restaurant and the hotel.
The food was spectacular. Everything I ordered came in a timely matter and was hot. The cheesecake tasted like actual cheesecake not too sweet and the berry compote was okay. The service was was fantastic and the ambience was great. We went a little early so it was quiet for a good hour into the meal.
Oh man..1 guy for everything the hostess server bartender all in one. No privacy it's in the lobby of the hotel..this is really a lounge not a restaurant people and hotel guest passing by all the time going to the elevator. The restaurant is so open and limited tables. And the menu 1 page copied paper not very classy for a hotel like this. But kudos to the guy he needs a raise doing jack of all trades. As far as food it's good but I'm rating this a 3 because of the atmosphere.
Service was excellent, atmosphere is nice, and parking was easier than most of Center City. Appetizers were only okay. Mussels had a slight chlorine taste; maybe they should use beer or bottled water rather than Philly tap? Chicken liver pate was well executed but could have had more flavor. Main courses were very good though! Duck and lamb were tasty, unusual flavor profiles and perfectly done.
wish i could leave less than 1 star because that’s being generous. went for restaurant week and put in our entire order, it took 50 minutes to receive the first course of soup and salad. also ordered a drink that never came. upon getting the starter course nearly an hour later i informed the server that i had a short lunch break and requested to have the check as well as entree and dessert course brought packed up to go. this took another 40 minutes making the overall dining experience close to a 2 hour affair for mediocre food. server and manager were not apologetic for wasting our time. 0/10 would recommend do not go here unless you want to waste your own time.
Went for restaurant week and it was a very poor experience. The food was mediocre. Everything came out barely warm. The waitress took the ordered and dropped off the check, other than that she was not around us. We went at 7pm and there was only one table occupied. I highly recommend checking reviews before going to any restaurant to avoid a poor experience we had.
Located immediately inside Le Meridien hotel, I thought this upscale French contemporary had a strong winter menu, albeit pricey in hindsight. A nice wine list/bar menu too, with several 3oz and 9oz wine pours. On paper, course options danced. Complimentary scallop amuse bouche was a nice touch. Dish presentations were excellent. But the sweetbread apps were dry and tasteless. Lobster bouillabaisse was pretty good, with a nice sized portion, but simple. Chocolate mousse, peanut butter mousse cake, and accompanying petits fours looked better than they actually tasted. The restaurant has potential and I'd be willing to give it another shot with different dishes. Our server did a great job, the staff was friendly, and overall table service was spot on. Decor was modern, stone/wood, with very dim lighting if reading the menu print is a concern. Fireplace was lit and added to a quiet, refined ambiance January. Plenty of street parking too Thursday night after 7. But I left feeling disappointed for the price paid.
The food was not anywhere close to what you would expect from an expensive restaurant at a 4-star hotel. The menu was tiny and they didn't even have all items available. We were the first seated on a Friday night and the first thing out of the waitresses mouth was "we're out of this, this, and this." The menu online is nowhere close to what was offered. The "crispy pork belly" means it comes out overcooked and even burnt in parts....that's what makes it crispy, apparently. The steak was tough and very gristley and the desserts were not great. $150 down the drain. That sums up our dinner experience. Breakfast was just as shameful. Again, we were the first ones seated in the morning, so it certainly wasn't busy. We ordered 2 different omelets and they came out mixed....some ingredients in hers that belonged in mine and vice versa. Sent them back to get remade...10 min later they got her omelet right but still couldn't figure mine out. Ham, tomato, and cheese omelet must have been overly complicated....?? I will absolutely NEVER eat here again, or stay at this hotel, nor will I ever recommend it to anyone.
Had wonderful fancy drinks at the bar in the early evening and enjoyed chatting with the bartender.
