Ancient Song has been a Godsend! I gave birth on 9/21 to beautiful baby girl, with the help of Christine as my doula. She went above and beyond in service and dedication. Throughout my pregnancy she was there as a source of information and genuine support. Through this support, I was encouraged to access resources, and approach giving birth in a way I'd never imagined before. I gave birth in 6 short hours with no medication, and had all my needs met post-delivery. Ancient Song has a policy that ensures that they are able to serve all mothers, and provided me with an experience I will never forget! Very grateful.
I won’t say I hated it but I’d prefer one star. At two months pregnant I contacted the service through a friends referral. I never received a call back until I was about 7 months. Once established, sending all my personal insurance information I was paired with a Doula who’s name I’ll keep anonymous that has no children, no birthing or Doula experience, and no time to meet me often enough to establish a trusting relationship. Within the next couple months before my due month I had only met her twice; once to meet, and again to review the necessary contracts to agree to service. Very little to no communication. Once my water broke I alerted her and was told “sorry I am out of town but I can send my trainee” which highly disappointed me. How can someone in training already be training someone they have no experience in? Now it’s not a matter of financial ability nor is it about location. I just feel like this company has let me down and I will not be referring them to anyone. In fact I’ve found a much better resource. Hope anyone else dealing with them has a better experience than mines.
I spent months searching for a doula before I came across Ancient Song which paired me with Jenny. She was one of the newer ones but you wouldn't have been able to tell. She was so attentive, informative, and caring; she really provided mental and emotional support in ways no one else could. By the end of our first meeting I was comfortable with her; by the end of our 2nd, she was like a close friend. ..and she ready and willing to be there at the drop of a dime when I went into labor. .. I called her at 4-something in the morning to update her on my labor which I thought I was able to handle on my own...things quickly changed and by 5:30 I was asking her to come...she was at the birthing center by 6am with healthy snacks you can munch on stuff during labor at the birthing center, tools to ease my pain and more...so ready to go even though I had dragged her out of bed! She did everything: She was my verbal punching bag during contractions, a cheerleader when I had to push, a reassuring friend when I thought I couldn't stick to my birth plan... She was the doorman when I kicked everyone out the room and my photographer when all I wanted was for someone to capture my special moment. I am forever grateful to have Jenny as part of my birth family. Her impact was felt and made the delivery and overall experience of my first child all the more memorable. From the first moment of contact with Ancient Song at their office to my post-partum visit from Jenny, I am impressed and grateful. This entire organization will come highly recommended- Always.
I attended a training workshop for Full Spectrum Doulas at ASDS, and I'm so glad that I decided to start my journey here. ASDS truly embodies what it means to serve with care and compassion in every way, including in how they train Doulas and the messages that are sounding off in the most elegant way about maternal healthcare and why no one should be denied access to quality care. The training was comprehensive, and I felt even more inspired by the knowledge that was shared. I look forward to my journey, and advise anyone looking for the 'heart 'n soul' of Doula work and/or services to check them out.
Ancient Song Doula Services has been a phenomenal experience for me. The seven week training was comprehensive, hands-on, and truly engaging. I have resources and connections that I received have helped me be a better doula and better serve my community.
I’m 9 months pregnant and was referred to this practice by a friend who had a good experience with them. I was excited to hopefully work with them, however when my husband reached out to schedule a meeting, they kept promising to call him back and never did. They also never answered several emails he sent. They seemed completely uninterested in working with us, and eventually we just gave up and moved on. At 9 months pregnant, I just didn’t have the time or energy to chase them down, when they were supposed to be helping us. I DO NOT recommend.
Ancient Song Doula is a supportive and empowering organization. I am so grateful to have had them by my side during my pregnancy.
