I was looking for an escape from the taint of the very unpleasant dealings with the contacts at H&R block, specifically 2 that represented they were part of the H&R Block legal team ????. Nothing in my communications with them validated a sound fact based legal conclusion! THE OPPOSITE! I saw this place, reviewed the menu and the comments of others. I was jazzed. It appears to have the professionalism and quality service credentials that H&R IMO lacks. I was very impressed with the exciting food they offer, the fun and the chance to deal with a quality organization. Looks like fun!!!
TLDR Not a lot of rock, service is hit or miss. For you if you like loud music and drinking. See below for details. This bar has been up and down for me. Sometimes it's awesome, sometimes it's garbage. Let's start with the positives. First it's a club in every sense of the word, not a rock bar. If you like loud music pop, EDM, dubstep, top 40, and occasionally a rock song, then the music selection is decent. The nights have potential to get wild, but do not always go that way depends on the crowd and events going on in P&L. Bottle service and a booth can be inexpensive if you split it with a few friends. I have had some wild times here. On the downside, more often than not, I have had issues with the bar tenders not really knowing what they're doing. They have screwed up my both my orders, and my check at the end of the night. That's not to say there isn't a good staff member. Sometimes their service is on point. The bathrooms are usually a mess and if you came for the rock music you will be disappointed for the most part. I don't blame the DJ for this. As it was explained to me, "the owner doesn't want rock music because it doesn't attract women, just men. And when men get drunk they just want to fight or have sex and since there is no women, they usually wound up fighting. So they play the other stuff to draw in a more appealing crowd." As it gets later in the night after midnight they will play more rock and metal. Closing thoughts: it's not a bad bar. I like it and will probably be back, but it's not for everyone.
Believe it or not this is place is not as bad as some of the people are saying! Me and my friend got there last night and of course we showed our ID multiple times to get it different clubs, Honestly we paid $10 each to get in and it was so much fun! However CROWDED!! We went upstairs to a different club the girl didn't take money from us because of the looks I gave her when she mentioned I had to pay another $5 each. We got in and had fun and left to go to the angel's Rock bar & all the security did was check out IDs again we did not pay to get in!!! I met some cool people there and the music was very good. Overall I enjoyed it was a lot of fun!
If I could give 0 stars, I would. I've been to A LOT of sh@#y bars in my life , but never before have I went to a bar that was advertised as one thing, and completely turned out to be something else. Was thete for over an hour only because I wanted to justify my cover charge and heard only 2 rock songs...FROM A "ROCK" BAR. If you want to be a hip hop club, stop advertising as a rock bar.
I cannot believe this place didn't shut down yet. I had a good time but with the activities I saw at this place shocked me a bit. And this is coming from someone who has done nightlife all across the country and Canada. Regarding the quality, this isn't a rock bar. It plays mostly hip hop music. And there is little room to dance.
Used to be able to come into this place and listen to a good variety of rock music as one would expect given the name of the bar. Last time I went in they played rap/pop music all night long. I can get that at pretty much any other P&L bar. Play rock music or change the name of the bar.
For a place with "rock bar" in their name, they played very little of that genre. Something along the lines of about 4 or 5 "rock" songs per hour during the 2 and a half hours I was there. The rest of the music they play is typical bad R&B/rap/dance/top 40 tripe that I could get at pretty much any other night club. What set Angels apart WAS the music they used to play - now they are as tired and boring as any other cookie cutter dive. So sad, this place used to be so unique, too. Add to the mix rude door attendant and bouncers, three of five bartenders who never smiled once, and a now generally lame atmosphere. Sadly, if you want a cool club, if you want a place to listen to rock, then Angels is NOT for you!!
When you have to pay $8-$10 for a drink plus a cover you might as well plan on not making your next car payment coming here. Music is a mix of which most is not rock. The skanks dancing on the bar in ripped up old clothes doesn't help either. This place has got to change or close. Rather disappointed with power and light in general because of outrageous prices just for drinks but this place is the worst. I'm not sure if people are just more stupid or I'm getting old probably both but quality = higher prices and quality lacks at this establishment.
They used to play good rock and metal music, like Marilyn Manson, NIN, Rob Zombie, etc, but now it's like random hip hop and lighter songs that no one knows... It is sadly not what it used to be back when it first opened. The atmosphere is still overall fun, but if they still played the same music it would be more fun!
I'm assuming most people are upset because it says "Rock" in the name. Honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a little better than expected. I've honestly learned that you can't go off the title of something and assume that to be what you're going to receive. Titles, names of things are often more misleading than anything else. Needless to say I had a good time. Good mix of music and I genuinely appreciate the bartender who already knew how to make a liquid marijuana.
