Highly recommend Dr Kumar. You’re not just a patient they make you feel more like family. After years of dealing with chronic pain I finally found a Dr that cares. From the staff to the PA’s really feel the need to update my comment. Just read a comment from a patient that said they would not recommend advanced pain management. Nothing could be further from the truth she stated that the operating room was filthy riches so false. And that Dr Kumar cares nothing more than money. Sometimes you hear this from people that just come they’re trying to get medication and that’s not what Dr Kumar does. If he feels that injections will help that is his first. He cares very much about his patients.
I have been a patient at Advanced Pain management for 15 years. I’ve recommended it to several people. Everyone there is the best. Doctors are great in the procedures. Alway make you feel comfortable and at ease. Would highly recommend them.
I can’t say enough good things about Dr Kunmar and his awesome staff. I’ve had 5 back surgeries in the last 10 years or so and was told to try pain management. I have days when it’s extremely difficult just to get dressed and start my day. Since I’ve been at pain management their doing exactly what I need. My pain to be managed. Dr Kunmar, and his staff will do everything they can to help you to get the best out of your day.
The Nurse Practitioner I saw today was wonderful and the staff is always great! Everyone’s job is really hard right now with everything that is going on with the outcome of Covid. I hope the staff, doctors and Nurse Practitioners are treated with compassion during this time as they deal with our pain.

October 11th was my first and last visit at the Advanced Pain Management clinic in Stoneham. I saw Dr. Kumar and he was extremely insensitive and rude during our visit. A lot happened during our visit but I’d like to go over what bothered me the most. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and Fibromyalgia along with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, OCD and have struggled with eating disorders anorexia & bulimia for 10 years now. He was asking about my mental illnesses and when I had mentioned that I have OCD, he asked me why I thought that I have OCD so I replied that I was diagnosed with it and he was asking me who diagnosed it and asked for examples so I gave them. One of those examples was that I have obsessive thoughts about my appearance and self. He told me that I should cut back on one of my medications Gabapentin that’s really helping me because my weight is on the “heavy side” and the medication is “making me FAT”. He put a lot of emphasis on that one word. There are ways to tell someone that you would like them to lose weight in a nice way and when someone has an eating disorder, it’s a more delicate situation. That information is in my records and he can see it. I told him that most days are quite difficult for me and I asked him if there are any pain medications besides narcotics that could help me. Also, let me add that Gabapentin does not cause weight gain! He wanted to prescribe me Tramadol and another medication, Provigil that I hadn’t heard of. The Provigil medication was for daytime sleepiness and I told him that I don’t have that but apparently because I’m a smoker, I do That’s what he told me. I told him I didn’t think I needed that nor did I want a prescription for it. I hate medication which I expressed to him and no one should take unnecessary medications. I mentioned that I had gotten several cortisone shots in the past year or so for my hip and he wanted me to make an appointment to get a cortisone shot and I told him that it wasn’t bothering me right now so I didn’t see the need for it and he told me I should do it anyway. He wanted me to quit smoking asap and asked what my plan is to quit. I told him that I would need to gradually cut back before quitting and he told me that wouldn’t matter and it would do nothing for me. He wanted me to quit then and there basically and told me that I’m doing nothing about it after I told him that I already have been cutting back. After he tried to phone one of his staff members so they could write my prescription and couldn’t get them after 3 times, he told me to wait and then went to the receptionist area and started verbally abusing his staff members. He was asking why no one answered the phone and exaggerated that he called 10 times, asked where one of his staff were and when no one knew, said “You all are the worst team ever” among other things. If he were my boss, I would have walked out. I wanted to walk out of that room and I should have. I have PTSD from childhood trauma and was already upset as it was but I was trying to keep it together as he was saying horrible things to his staff. He came back in, and then told me that I “need to smile more”. I looked at him and said that I have depression. Then I told him about my eating disorders and how what he said about my weight hurt me because I struggle every day with trying not to starve myself, to exercise more, etc and it’s hard when you’re both in chronic pain and have depression. To that, he replied that I can “sit, cry about it and feel sorry for myself” or I can “go exercise and lose weight”. After I just explained how the pain makes it difficult. More happened but I feel that these are the most important highlights. NO ONE deserves this kind of treatment from a Doctor. I called back later and cancelled the 2 week appointment for a cortisone shot that I was pressured into making and said I won’t be filling the prescription that was given to me and that I won’t be returning, either.
I won’t recommend Dr.Kumar to anyone First off he cares more about your money and NOT the patients needs He lies to get you in then dose a 360 on you Stuff is unprofessional operation room if dirty
Have been treated by advanced pain management for years and they have treated my back and leg issues superbly.
