We have been using this clinic for urgent care of our baby Jasper for the 3+ years of his life and we've been impressed. The negative reviewers here must not understand the true costs associated with caring for a pet. Pets are almost as much responsibility as human children, and their healthcare costs much less despite using many of the extra same tools and medications. This ER is quite reasonable, and is a lot cheaper than the speciality hospital. They have even helped once for free when Jasper got a tooth stuck on his collar! That being said, the vet med field is drastically overworked right now, and dealing with supply shortages. This particular clinic doesn't have some of the more expensive equipment that my cat ultimately needed for proper diagnosis during his latest health emergency, which did delay care. That is not the fault of anyone working here!! The entire staff has been very polite, if not compassionate, and I trust their competency. They absolutely kept my boy stable and comfortable. As long as you are a good pet parent, they will work with you on pricing and helping you choose the best option for your family. They truly care about animals and their people!
We had to say goodbye to my girl here. The staff was the most compassionate and caring team to both us as pet parents and our little fur covered child. I highly recommend this place. Vet medicine is expensive in general so I’m sad to see these other negative comments about expense. It’s not. They only bill for what it takes to keep the doors open and available to people like us that had to go to AEC due to a devastating accident that no one expected.
A neighbor's dog was showing signs of lethargy and she called to let me know. I couldn't let her make the trip alone. I sat with her and held her dog until she calmed. Her pup was unable to walk. The caregivers at this clinic were awesome; plus, it was a full house. This is Kingston after treatment.
If I could give this place a negative star I would. On 9/18/22 my daughter’s dog who I was pet sitting had a seizure and we went there. We waited for three hours to be seen and we were never called. Other pets who came in after us was seen before us. I carried my dog in and these dogs were capable of walking in. I asked how long she then stated oh I’m sorry your paperwork wasn’t submitted. After clearing that up we still waited another hour and a half. I finally left. I watched over him all night and we will see his vet today. The waiting wouldn’t have been too bad if other dogs who were in better shape wasn’t called before us. The lack of empathy there is astounding. They were more concerned with repairing the automated door. You have people coming in with their sick and dying fur babies and the lack of empathy was eye opening. Y’all need to do better
My dog hurt her leg of course on a Sunday. I Took her to Animal Emergency on Summer Ave. The vet did exam, called me in waiting room, told me what he found, asked a few questions about , explained what he wanted to do, and why and what I needed to do once home. I left with my dog, a plan of action, printed notes. He also faxed findings to my regular Vet. I appreciated that He did not run up the bill ! He did what was needed for that day only. The staff were kind and efficient. Yes, they do want their money at time of service after your animal is seen and treated, not up front. Thank you for being open on Sunday !
The staff was very professional and genuinely care about my dog. Dr. King did a wonderful job caring for my fur baby. Even though the outcome was not what we wanted, they took the time to return him to us in a kind and loving manner.
Our dog had severe nausea and diarrhea, and eventually was obviously becoming sicker. We took her in here late at night and while they processed our paperwork quickly, we sat in an empty, icy-cold waiting room for the longest time waiting to be seen. Eventually, I asked the woman at the desk how long it would be until we might be seen. She said she didn’t know. We waited longer. I asked again. She still didn’t know. Eventually, we decided to leave and try to make it until morning, when we could get the dog to her own vet, but she was sick again in the parking lot, so we went back, told them what had happened, and waited longer. Still no ideas from the front desk. Eventually, we had a to leave again because it had got so late, and we sat up with the dog all night, but at least we were at home. We went to our own vet as they opened, and she was treated immediately with appropriate concern and kindness. Animal Emergency Center treated us and most importantly, our dog, who was sick with disdain and disrespect. Avoid them if you have a choice.
My dog couldn't keep water or food down on a weekend afternoon/evening. I chose this ER in Memphis because of better reviews than the one in Cordova. Signs in the waiting room said they triage animals brought in- the sickest animals get seen first - fair enough. Right after we got there, two other patients arrived that were much more critical than my dog and got taken back before her. Other animals not as sick as my dog arrived and were seen after her. Even with the really sick ones going in ahead of her, my dog got taken back within the first hour. It took 4 hours total 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. to get necessary tests done and for the vet to have time to diagnose, talk to me, dispense meds and in our case send us home. She did so by cell phone- this is a sketchy part of town and the medical staff stays inside the medical area, they don't let pet owners back there during exams, not even to use the bathroom. They've had issues with scary people, and have to keep themselves safe. The front desk people were kind but firm about payment information and not letting pet owners go back into the exam areas. My dog is doing much better thanks to this vet. I would definitely use them again for an emergency, just hope I don't have to. They charge more than a regular daytime vet but within what I expected for an emergency vet.
The wait was very reasonable, especially considering there was an emergency surgery going on and just one doctor on staff. They treated my guinea pig with the same kindness and respect as any other dog or cat. I feel like they validated my concerns. I jusy wish there was a way to speak to the doctor directly, but I do understand my case wasn't as critical as some others and they were very busy tonight.
Great, caring staff. Very compassionate. Two days before Christmas 2019, we were faced with a painful decision. Sweetpea, our 15-year-old, very-animated kitty, fell victim to a series of massive strokes. The paralysis was permanent and he would rely on pain killers for the remainder of his life. The doctor on duty took all the time we needed to fully explain Sweetpea’s situation to us. The AEC staff was very understanding and Sweetpea’s transition was peaceful and dignified, as he deserved. The AEC staff made arrangements for Sweetpea to be cremated. Although we did not go home with our Sweetpea, we cannot thank y’all enough for all you did. We are pleased to highly recommend AEC to anyone with an ill pet. It’s the best place you hope you’ll never see.
