My Loki was a happy, tired pup after I picked him up. I boarded him for a week and was sent picture updates. I also appreciate that they do evaluations for each dog before they are able to do community playtime with the others. I plan on boarding him here again when we go out of town in the future.
Thank you so much!! We will definitely be back. River looks amazing. She is beautiful and you guys were wonderful with her. River now has her future home with you guys there on her spa days. Thank you for always keeping me posted threw out the day. If I could give more stars I would!!!!
Our Border Collie, Rip, spent 8 nights at Ankeny Hill while we were on vacation. We couldn’t imagine taking him anywhere else after his first stay here. The drop off was smooth and easy. They coordinated some shots he had coming up, and at our request even trimmed his nails and bathed him the morning we picked him up. He has a GPS collar which the battery usually lasts a week or two, but he was so active there that it died in just a few days! Other kennels we’ve been to he gets nowhere near that amount of playtime/activity. Rip came home CLEAN, HEALTHY, and tired; if we could give Ankeny Hill 10/5 stars, we would in a heartbeat and we will definitely be back!
My air conditioner went out, and I wanted to escape the incoming heatwave since I wouldn't have it fixed in time. So the easiest solution was to head to the coast for the weekend, but I couldn't find vacancy at a pet friendly hotel. I live in Jefferson, so this was an easy choice based off location. The facility is very nice, and the staff expressed much care. I felt comfortable placing my cat into their care having never met them prior. The price was reasonable, too. $42 for 2 nights in air conditioned buildings. She probably didn't care for it, and would've much rather gone with me to the beach, but at least she was comfortable. I'm glad to have my cat back, but I'm still very thankful for this facility and the great people who make the magic happen. If I have to board my cat again in the future, I know exactly where to go!
Haley, Bonnie and Emily really made me comfortable about leaving my best friend “Chester” the Manx.
This place used to be wonderful, but with the recent changes, they are sacrificing humane treatment of dogs in the name of profit. The reason I am writing this post and not just walking away in silence is because they were terrible with transparency, and I have concerns about that continuing. The dogs used to have an indoor/outdoor run space and were taken outside for play time in a ½ acre yard twice a day. I would receive pictures of my pet being cared for during her stay. This was their standard boarding at $22 per day. I recently went on my first trip since the pandemic and was really distressed by how it has changed with little to no notice or transparency. They now charge $32 for their lowest “package”. If this package was equivalent to what they used to offer, the price hike is reasonable. Times are hard and I want to support local businesses whose services I appreciate. What they don’t tell you unless you ask is if you choose this package, your dog will not go outside, see the light of day, or breath fresh air. There are no windows. They will be locked in a room with no interactions except for 3 potty breaks a day taken in an indoor area with fake trees 3 per their website, but I was told 2 when I was there. Frankly, I know of no boarding place that treats dogs this way. Express concern and you are told you can purchase the higher-level package or addons. Their website used to have all their pricing information listed up front. Notice that is no longer the case. What are they hiding? Well, for your dog to feel sun on their face, you must pay $60/day for silver package or $52 for bronze with one play time added on. That’s a 236% increase in price for something not even equivalent to what they used to offer. You’d need to go up to $80/day to get two outside times. When I dropped my dog off, I asked about the new construction because they had sent out some vague emails about changes and their website was offline in the week leading up to my reservation. There was no information about what the changes were other than “new building” and the price going up. I was expecting to drop my dog off for the usual experience, but once I arrived, I started piecing together that I would have to pay over twice as much as I used to for my dog to be able to go outside for a short period of time each day. I left in tears and started sobbing in my car because I felt like such a terrible mom. I simply cannot afford those extra costs as I make close to minimum wage. I felt unable to make the best decision for my dog because I was on my way to the airport and could not switch her boarding somewhere else on such short notice. I received no update or photos from them while on my trip. They have a lot of excuses for why they are doing what they are doing. It's just deception and greed at it’s worse… sacrificing basic humanity unless you pay up. I used to trust these folks with my precious baby. Now, I won’t trust them as far as I can throw a puppicino. Since they don’t list them on their website, below are the costs for the packages and the add-ons. The prices for the add-on services they used to offer have increased 200% or more as well. Bronze: $32/day Silver: $65/ day Gold: $80/day Platinum: $90/day additional potty break $15; individual play time - does not say how long $20; daycare full day $30; swimming $25; nature walk $20; medication $5; senior package $28 Then things start getting crazy with the new stuff... I am not judging if you have enough cash to burn to get these things for your dogs, but ya’ll, this place is in rural Oregon, not LA… aromatherapy $25, bedtime story $15, belly rub and tuck in $15, customizable calming package $30 , daycare continued education $30, daycare assessment $20, “enrichment” aka toy/treat $20, gourmet snack $15, pampered session $20, puppicinos $10, puppy package $28, season photo shoots $15, birthday party $45 And really, I have little faith that they actually do these things especially after reading the ex-employee's review.
We boarded our dog for 5 nights and were very happy with the service provided. They were very nice, our dog seemed to really like the staff and the facility is beautiful. We will definitely board our dog with them again!
You are charged by the day, not night, regardless of check in, check out time so factor that cost in; you are not permitted to inspect the kennel except in a picture; and there are no cameras you can log into in order to observe your pet or activities. Everything is done behind closed doors for an extremely high price. They seem very sincere but there is no transparency or at the least they were not very forthcoming.
