Great little corner establishment. Opened at 4pm on Saturday. Food was pretty good. Southwest risotto was a real risotto and the Mac and cheese was homemade but what really made this place special was the classic music and the great artwork everywhere dedicated to Poe and Baltimore. The wait staff was on point with keeping up drinks and conversation tavern style :. I loved it.
I was visiting the DMV area for the holidays/vacation from Dubai. Being a resident of Dubai for the past decade, my expectations are usually high when it comes to the F&B industry. I can say that Annabel Lee is best place in Baltimore and one of the best places I've even been to. Amazing ambiance, tasty food, sublime service. Kurt, the owner, is the friendliest. Jess the bartender was positive, friendly and generous ask for tea time shots. Overall the experience was very positive and the Edgar Allan Poe theme of the place makes it even more wonderful. I would definitely come again for sure. Highly recommended! #5stars
I live around the corner and have yet to come here. After sitting down, the waiter spills water on me...a bit. Oh well. I am there for great food and we are all human. I decide to get munchies instead of a meal. Holy cow. ALL of it was immediately having me want to go back for more. The photos below are in chronological order and I am eating, not slowly, as I go. The prices are very reasonable for the portions; especially given the quality. Idk if it is a 10/10, but it is a 9/10 and could be. Definitely coming back and I think you should come check it out too neighbors! - Your Friendyl Neighborhood Odd Job Jones
A gorgeous atmosphere with very wonderful drinks. Entrees where exquisite, sandwiches superb and a wonderful creation of sensational flavors! The wait staff is amazing and all very friendly and kind!
A terrific Baltimore neighborhood gem. The brussel sprouts were amazing. And the meatloaf is as good as they say. The mashed potatoes and the green beans were just as good. I know he's planning on selling but I selfishly hope it's not right away because I want to come back.Food: 5/5
I really enjoyed my time there. The atmosphere and decor are great. The staff is kind. My only gripe is that it can feel very crowded in the place. The food was very good. Whatever you order, get duck fat fries. They are very delicious.
A nice little find thanks to Restaurant Week. The Edgar Allan Poe theme brought me in, but the butternut squash risotto will bring me back. Wasn't expecting much from the mac 'n' chz, but it was the perfect twang of cheesy goodness. I added the peppers and onion option, but it didn't really need the help. The highlight was the bourbon-based cocktail, Spectacles - a hot toddy type that was the antidote to a cold, January night. Vegetarian options: Impossible meatballs w/linguine and buttnernut squash risotto are the main veg entrees I saw.
Annabel Lee tavern is such a fun quirky spot to stop in at. The drinks are great and very affordable. The vibe is very dark and gloomy which fits the Poe vibe. Great service staff, drink selection, and the best fried green tomatoes I’ve ever had.
So I’ll be honest, I came to this tavern hoping to pick up some Edgar Allan Poe merch because the museum was closed the day I was in town. They only really had merch for their tavern. BUT! The food was good, the drinks were better, the place was charming, and I’m absolutely going to come back the next time I’m in Baltimore! I’m recommending this place to all my friends! The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it certainly looked like the gift shop they had would be more stocked, and more diverse instead of tavern merch. Oh well. I still loved it!
As a literary nerd and appreciator of small bars, I cannot say enough good things about the Annabel Lee Tavern. Nice vibe. Great cocktails, tavern fare, and service. Delightful EAP theme. The only thing missing was a heart beating under the floorboards. A must-visit for lit nerds and cocktail enthusiasts alike.
