Horrible experience. Scheduled an 8am appointment 1 month in advance and showed up on time. Waited until 9:30 for someone to finally start my hair and did not get finished until 11 hours later!! They have terrible time management and stack clients irresponsibly. I scheduled a wash and deep conditioning as an add on, but my hair was not properly detangled. Then when I requested the braider to detangle the hair more, she caught an attitude with me and called my hair nappy. I have beautiful thick hair and was able to run my fingers through it before my appointment. So, whatever they did during my wash and deep conditioning caused my hair to be in a dry and tangled state. Calling a clients hair nappy is so disrespectful, especially when it wasn’t nappy beforehand. The way the braider handled my hair was traumatic and painful to the point that I was crying and in so much pain. FYI I am not tender headed and I got knotless braids which have never hurt before. After I voiced my complaints, I was looked at as the problem and was told I can’t receive a less heavy handed braider. I was also told that my current braider didn’t have time to detangle my hair because she had somewhere to be…that’s absolutely ridiculous and I honestly should’ve went off in the moment. The style I got was $360 and I was told it wasn’t worth her time to properly detangle…even though I paid for it. Idk what type of business they are running but I will neverrrrr be back and honestly I should’ve left out mid appointment. That’s my main regret. Should have never allowed them to keep pulling my hair and hurting me. The braids look good but they hurt so much that I’m literally taking them out not even 24 hours later. Waste of money and definitely a waste of time Update: I’ve taken down the knotless braids and my scalp has stress bumps and is still sore in some places even with the braids out.Service: Braids
Unprofessional.....very dirty......rude hair stylists and they will stare u up and down while talking bad about your hair texture like ur not right there. Over priced. Not good at any kind of braids.
I initially wrote a good review because it was a new business and I wanted to support. I went in for a 10 am appt. i asked for spring twists. My hair is about 6 to 8 inches long and healthy. They told me $250 for twists and told me if i wanted them long enough to put up in a bun or pony tail it would be $350. I was going out of town figured i pay the money. The stylist kept saying she was sorry there was not a mirror in front of me and i kept thinking she thought she was hurting my hair. Long story short they finished at 11 pm. I was so tired i paid and left. I went home and it was too much hair and she did not finish ends or clean it up. I contacted owner she seemed very nice and apologetic told me she would fix it for me which she did took half out and re twisted. The next week twists coming out and the following week more came out. I text and sent pics and asked to be partially refunded. She had a novice stylist work on me i paid $400 for hair treatment. Not including transportation She got me with the new business and the christian woman part. She never responded to my second text about partial refund. I was the foolish one and paid the costly mistake. Dont you make it. In fairness there are some good stylist there. I did not get one and the owner knew she was novice. This is why i am editing my reaponse. My experience wont be everyones but at least you know
The absolute worst place I have ever been to. The staff is completely unprofessional. I went here for a simple wash, blow dry and straighten. I showed up 15 minutes early and was taken after an hour and some change waiting. Only to find out the girl doing my hair was not qualified and had no license to actually straighten hair. The owner had to come to straighten my hair. She took over an hour to come and then tried to barricade me in the store and demand full payment after I complained. A waste of money, if you’re looking for a good hair salon in dc this is not it.Service: Hairstyling
Yeahhh not sure that I will ever come back to this place. I booked an appointment for 9:30 AM after being referred by a friend, and I live in Arlington, so made sure to leave on time for my appointment. I got a text from the owner saying that one of the braiders called off and the next one wouldn’t be in until noon, and asked if I could come in tomorrow. I had used my PTO specifically so I could get my hair braided, and I wasn’t willing to let that go to waste. At this point I was almost at the salon, so I asked if there was a waiting area I could sit at until the next braider arrived. I was told that the manager would come and let me in so I can wait—I had to sit for two hours before she arrived. I FINALLY got in the chair at 11:30, and was given a wash and blow dry. Thank goodness I am not tender-headed because the girl who washed my hair used a pick comb through it from ROOT to ENDS—literally raking through my hair. Anyone who has natural hair knows that you should start at the ends to detangle, so as not to cause breakage. I asked her to please do so, but she said “it’s fine” and kept going. ?????? When she blow dried, she used a comb attachment to detangle, STILL starting at the roots. After attempting to blow dry and dropping the attachment multiple times on the floor, she told me it was time to braid. My braids are JUST okay. The parts aren’t that neat and they used two different brands of hair, so the color is slightly off. If I’m praying nearly $400 for a service, I would hope that there would be a higher standard of professionalism. To have waited over 3 hours after making an appointment, to having a poor wash and blow dry, to ultimately not have satisfactory braids—it really feels like money going down the drain when I could have gone elsewhere for better quality of service.Service: Braids
We booked our service online, and with a bit of miscommunication we sat in our car not realizing the stylist was there too, we got off to a bit of a delayed start, but all parties were understanding and communicative. Areth assessed my daughters hair and made recommendations that would be best for her as we are first timers to braiding. She worked quickly and did a beautiful job. I was able to pay with zelle though I’ll bring cash next time for ease, and realized I’d overpaid because in the moment had not factored in the $20 holding fee for online booking. I texted the salon manager who was responsive and allowed me to pass on the extra to Areth in addition to my initial tip. I was grateful for the communication, efficiency, cost and quality of work. We will be back and would recommend Areth highly. Thank you ladies!
i had to wait 4 1/2 hours for my hair to begin despite having an appointment. the color i got was great but not what i asked for. i tried to let the stylist know it wasnt correct but she insisted it was. i completely understand that a stylist called out but as i was heading to the appointment i did receive a phonecall to confirm my appointment and was not told that there wouldnt be a stylist for 4 1/2 hours. once my hair did start, it was stopped for another 30 minutes, so the stylist could assist with another customer’s hair. my discount was $10, which did not seem appropriate for all that happened.Service: Braids
I rarely do this, but I really just feel like I’ve got to be real with anyone considering patronizing this business. The quality of the work has truly gone down over the last year in an unexplainable way. I went a few weeks ago to get knotless braids, as I’ve done multiple times before. This time the Braider had horrendous body odor, my parts were not straight, and the overall product was terrible. I paid full price AND tipped because ive gone to them multiple times before. I let them know at the time of service that my hair was unsatisfactory. I contacted the owner to express my concerns. The owner and I finally figured out a time for me to come in so that I could PAY to have the top touched up. When I got there, nobody on staff seemed to be expecting me. So the owner drove in to do it herself. My expectations were high, but I left again, astounded at the lack of care and detail. I paid and tipped and made peace with the fact that I will NEVER step foot into this establishment again. This business lacks professionalism, organization, and quality assurance. I have now found a Braider in Richmond that I will gladly take the two and a half hour drive for because I like braids that are neat and have symmetry. What I got my last two out of 5 experiences here has been awful. My knotless braids look beady, rushed, cheap, and there’s no symmetry. $400 down the drain. I will never come again. Yes, they are decent people who believe in God, but their business practice does not reflect professionalism or care for customers…only money. Sad, sad. Used to be a great business loved to support.
