George is an amazing guy who helps those who want to learn about fish. Do not expect to walk in the store and tell him what you think about fish and such. To those who want to learn just listen to what he has to say!!! The store has an amazing selection of fish and other aquarium needs suited for any aquarium size. Please check this place out!
Best place to go for fish and answers. The owner George is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. He also has the patience of a Saint for people like me who don't speak fish language yet and will help you with any problems or questions you have. He cares about the fish he sells you so if your PH is too low or high, George will help you get that under control first. Of course you can just go in there and buy fish but if you want them to last and you are not sure about something, ask George. There are always people in there and everyone is helpful. Beautiful selection of fish, plants, rocks and driftwood. He can also order anything you need or want. I've been to just about every fish place in Rhode island and Aqua-Life/George, aka the Fish Doctor, is the best!
Many people here are saying that the employees are rude, but that is quite the opposite. George is the most knowledgeable guy I know when it comes to all things fish. He knows what he’s doing and he just tries to educate those that are naive to he hobby. Overall fantastic selection of aquatic life there, and he will special order some fish if you need a specific species. I wish I could be here every day! Great little mom and pop shop, and arguably the best fish store in RI. Infinitely better than petco and all the other chain stores.
Thank you for helping me set up my reef tank. My 65g reef tank is doing great - with over 5 years running. My original stock of fish, inverts, and coral came from here and almost all are still alive and growing well. Starting with quality leads to a good system. Great selection and staff knowledge.
Aqua-life central is the place to get fish and supplies. George will have any answer for your fish questions. I advise to have patience since it can get busy. Try off hours if you want to get the attention you want other than that he will have a rare selection of freshwater fish. Highly recommended for any beginner and advanced fish lovers.
I've shopped here for 30 years, and can assure you the owners are experts, who share their knowledge freely. Listen and learn! A great local business. Excellent fish and supplies, reasonable prices, good people.
Terrible store. Tanks not clean, fish were diseased, owner was VERY rude. Recently purchased 7 wild Molina corey’s for my 75 gallon amazon aquarium, along with a gold nugget. After drip acclimating them for two hours, I put them in the tank. They seemed fine, but the next morning all 7 were dead. The gold nugget was perfectly fine and had got all his color back from stress. But still, we checked the waters temp, ph, and ammonia. Called the owner, told him that I had lost all the Corey’s, but the gold nugget was fine. He responded by yelling at me to bring him a sample of the water, saying my tank was not suitable for the Corey’s without doing ANY TESTS HIMSELF. He said to POSSIBLY get a refund, I’d have to go to his store 45 minutes away with a water bottle filled with tank water so he can run the tests I did, for himself. He also said that I should never acclimate them for more then 10 minutes, but when I said that I drip acclimated, he said it shouldn’t be done. Also, it took a solid 30-45 minutes to get the fish out of a small 10 gallon tank. Overall crappy service with people that pretend to know what they’re doing. Never doing business with them again. If I don’t get my money back I’m really gonna keep pushing till I can get action. Cause I spent a total of 69.46, and 34.93 of that is now gone. Thanks for nothing, you’re store is terrible.
The owner is an A-hole! He was so disrespectful to me. He looked down on me just because I didn't know the exact pH and parameter of my tank. He basically won't sell fishes to me because he "thinks" I am a bad fish keeper. He is one of the worst people I have ever met in this world. Everyone, I will warn you now he might treat you the same way so please don't go there. It's sad because the store does have some cool fishes, but the owner is just a disrespectful old man who cares about fishes more than human beings.
My husband and I love it here! George is amazing and has helped us so much with our tanks. Helped us and still does give us large amounts of knowledge. We love to go here!
Always a great visit! George really takes the time to explain/educate his customers on the best care for their tanks. We learn something new every time we go in.
