I got money taken from me with this company, I ordered a supposedly live coral on 3/7, but they did not ship till 3/12, and received it late on 3/14, first I ordered a bubble coral from their website and it said WYSIWYG 3 ½ inches, but the coral I received was only 2 inches, so they ripped me off there, than I ordered this coral Overnight next day air, but the coral took TWO days to get to me, SC to NC, and because of this two day stress in a box With COLD CLOUDY WATER the coral arrived the 2nd day in very bad shape, it had green algae all over it with 100% dirty skeleton showing, impossible to open up, I then called them up on phone and they just played games with me, they said they will refund my money, but they never did, they kept trying to find ways to not pay for their mistake, and they played more games, for they said the 4 pictures that I sent them was not enough, and then I sent 10 more pictures of this badly sick coral which will never open up, and it will just consume more algae and it will affect my good corals if I put this sick DOA thing on my reef, for these are not good people, they will take your money when they do not do overnight shipping when you initially pay and request it, I am a retired combat Marine Corps Veteran in the Camp Lejeune Jacksonville area and I do not deserve this very poor treatment that I received from this company.
Stopped in to check it out. Scott gave us the full tour, answered all my beginner's questions, and spent two hours doing it. They have very nice corals and fish, and all the dry goods you can think of. Great place run by very nice people!
Great selection and prices. Scott has a wealth of knowledge and is happy to answer any questions. All livestock were clean and colorful, which shows the great care they receive. Glad to have found Aquarium Specialty and look forward to doing more business here.
My skimmer pump failed a couple days before Christmas and I’ll tell you want Scott went above and beyond to help me find a new pump for my old Royal exclusive skimmer! Probably the best customer service I’ve had in a long long time. I will be buying all my equipment from him and his team. Definitely earned my business for future purchases! Thanks again Scott much appreciated!!!
Carolina Reef Experience last Saturday was a smashing success! Was great to see tons of new faces, as well as many long-time friends and vendors! Update 28 Mar 2023: This review remains unchanged! I had purchased a skimmer from another online vendor. I believed that the AC pump for said skimmer was having issues. Scott and Aquarium Specialty have a presence on the forum Reef2Reef and have a deep understanding of the skimmer and it’s operation. I reached out to them asking a question. Scott immediately got back to me and offered to replace the pump under warranty or sell me the DC pump upgrade at a reduced cost. The new pump was in my hands less than 48hrs after that initial R2R message. I cannot recommend Aquarium Specialty enough. Scott runs an amazing business and store. If you’re in town stop by. If you are looking for great gear and customer service check out the online store! Thanks again Scott! Previous Review: Went in today while on a business trip from MI. Almost immediately after entering an employee came over and struck up a conversation about their fish display systems. Very knowledgeable and friendly! Scott, the owner, then came out and showed us their bigger frag tanks and showed us the warehouse. He was incredibly personable and went out of his way to make us feel welcome even though we weren’t locals! We then spoke with Scotts wife who was also so friendly I’m sorry I forgot your first name!!. Easily spent an hour and a half talking with them and gawking at their beautiful tanks and frags. Everything was clean and seemed very happy! If you are a local this should be your go to store. If you aren’t, like me, they ship online and if their online business practices are anything like their in person ones you won’t be disappointed! Thanks again Scott and you’ll definitely be seeing business from me in the future. Also they have the most amazing dog Winston that loves belly rubs!
Ive been ordering from these guys since they introduced Quantum Products the road has been a bit bumpy. They claim if you order by 3:30 EST they'll ship the same day, my last 2 orders I've had to contact them about when my order might ship out. My overall experience lately has been mediocre at best with the shipping!! I sure hope this improves with future orders or have to take my business elsewhere!!
Drove from Florence, caught them doing some plumbing repairs to a frag table. Scott still found the time to show me the warehouse, and give me an overall great experience. They also give back to the hobby by hosting and sponsoring the Carolina Reef Experience. Highly recommended.
Very poor customer service to say the least. I ordered a black storm clownfish that came dead on arrival. It was very small and presumably died from the stress of shipping given its small size. I sent an email out right away with picture and got no response. I sent a second email and got no response. I called and a woman took my information, said she could see that I sent emails, and would send her own email to the owner to get back to me. She said they were very busy from an event and would get back to me. No response. I get that certain stores do not have DOA policies but at least get back to your customers.
Awesome service! My two new flurry clowns are wonderful, very healthy and happy in their new home. Great prices, service was excellent, and fish are great! Would definitely recommend for all your fishy needs.
