Arlenes is truly a one of a kind costume shop. Mostly rentals. BEAUTIFUL one of a kind outfits. I doubt anyone else will be wearing the same outfit at a party if you rent from here. It may take awhile to get your costume, because they customize it just for you. These are NOT cheap package costumes. They do sell some packaged costumes, but even these are better quality than others I've seen. They also have professional makeup artists available by appointment in the shop. They have so many items, you want to just look thru the racks, but unfortunately, you'll have no idea what you're looking at, as the costumes are "put together" for you individually. Plan on spending some time there. It's worth it!!

Highly recommend shop, they have any costume you can imagine under one roof. Friendly and knowledgeable staff too!

I am very disappointed with this shop. I was excited to check it out for about a year. I walked in with high hopes to find the perfect item to add to my costume. Since I did not know what I wanted I gazed around looking at their items. I was asked 3 times what I was looking for, I responded nicely "I'm just looking around". My friend and I went to the back where we saw the costumes being hung up, complimenting a pair of shoes when the woman who worked there, who i assume was the owner, was very nasty. She demanded that we had to go back to the front and when we apologized she rudely said "that's what the sign is there for". We didn't see a sign when we walked back there. She made me feel like I was a criminal and not welcome there. We looked where she said there was a sign, it was off to the side on a stand that had a belt over it. It was also around torso height, so with it being covered and at a short height we missed it by accident. She could have handled the situation differently, telling us about her policy. We left immediately after, very upset.

High quality costumes. The guy working there is helpful and thinks hes funny and he kinda is in a lame way if you know what I mean

If I had an option to give no stars I would. Needed a costume for high school fundraiser and this shop was highly recommended. Daughter called to get price, usually 45 off season, 95 during season, she asked why so much they explained because people pick it up the day before and return the day after events.... ok.
Emailed the shop, explained it was for a fundraiser, single mom, work 6 days a week and when I get off they're closed, hence the email and trying to be proactive with the costume rental. Asked if he could help out with price and they said 75 is ok. NOW....I am under the assumption because of the price and the recommendation it would be a premium costume. Not saying they don't have premium costumes, but the one we rented was not.
Arrived. They only had 2 costumes, which were pretty revealing. We opted for the smaller one due to the fit and there were no other options. He stated the same costume was rented for the same event the year prior. It was basically a body suit with sheer pants, it was not a premium costume for the rental price. Thread was loose at the seams around the neck line, cheap material. Even the wig was extremely matted. Jewelry was dirty and dingy. But, because it was referred by the school, we said oook. I guess this is it. Iwas unware that the rental fee was due at time of rental or else I wouldn't have prepaid for the rental. My daughter tells me after she left that the costume was revealing and she felt uncomfortable wearing it for a kids show.
I emailed that evening expressing her concern, no response. When it was a sale/inquiry, response was much quicker. Waited until about 2pm and headed to the shop. Asked for a refund because my daughter didn't feel comfortable. The actual fee wasn't due until Sat, but was paid on Weds due to my work schedule. Costume was never taken, worn. They would not refund me the rental fee, just store credit that expires BEFORE Halloween next year. Told me my daughter will use it. FOR WHAT?
Simply. Go over terms with your customers, if I didn't need to pay the rental fee until time of rental or no refunds I should've been told that. They wrote up a slip as if I had to pay for it at that moment, so I did. That's my fault for thinking people would be honest and straightforward. I even would have been ok with a partial refund out of respect for the nature of your business. I paid 75.00 for a service never rendered and was willing to pay for the time spent on the "fitting". Never will recommend anyone to go here. That was greedy and dishonest. I should have been charged maybe a deposit and then final payment on day of rental.
What a way to help out the community, fundraisers and school that refers you.
