I am seeing a lot of reviews with the EXACT experience I had. First I showed up only to be told they had canceled my appointment and did not bother to contact me to tell me. So I came back a couple weeks later for another appointment only to be told the hygienist left the office for the day and once again got sent home. My third appointment a couple weeks following that was a major disappointment. I was told by the hygienist they needed to do a 600$ plus cleaning for gingivitis before they could do a regular cleaning for my teeth, which also included them charging me for a mouth wash and a very expensive electric toothbrush which I did not ask for and only realized they added on to my bill last minute. So after a hygienist poked my mouth for less then ten minutes they sent me back home and told to come back in two weeks once again. I will not being going back for a fourth time. I have never had a dentist office try to sell me this, and have had gingivitis my whole life yet every other dentist I go to still does the regular cleaning despite me having it. This gingivitis cleaning sales pitch given to me by the hygienist seems unreasonable and an easy way for them to make more money, especially cause this cleaning unlike everything else was not covered by my insurance. Finally their front desk lady all three times I visited was beyond rude not only to me but other clients and other staff as well. I strongly advise if you are looking for a dentist to look literally anywhere else.
To begin with, I will say that getting an appointment was easy. When I called, I was able to book an appointment within a week, which was a plus. As far as the actual appointment went, though, I was very disappointed with the whole experience. My dental insurance covers the typical twice a year check-up and cleaning, and this appointment was for the check-up. After the hygienist came and looked at my teeth, she went through a whole pitch of why I needed a deep cleaning, which was okay. However, when I finished, I learned that I could not even schedule a normal cleaning appointment with Aspen Dental--instead they would only schedule me for a deep cleaning that was going to be $600+ after insurance, and the hygienist had added charges for me to buy an electric toothbrush and electric flosser through their office. I was disappointed to find out that, although they accept my dental insurance, they are only willing to do services that go beyond what it covers. On top of that, I heard several employees complaining about the work environment and no one was particularly friendly. I will definitely be looking for a different dental office for future services.
All teeth they have worked on have either fillings have crumbled or caps have fallen off. It took them 3 tries to put 1 cap on. It had fallen off for the 3rd time as I was talking to the guy being checked out of aspen. The billing guy "assured" me that they were a very good team and that happens. That's 3 times before I even left!!! I do not trust their practice and they rush you in and out. I have had problems with every single tooth they have worked on. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!
I was having a possible gum-abscess/root-protrusion and wanted to see a dentist as soon as possible in case it was something serious. Aspen doesn't accept my insurance, but I got an appointment with them as a free initial consultation for my issue. During this visit I was told that I had bone loss and serious gum disease, and would need to have periodontal planing and root scaling. Relative to this, my specific gum issue wasn't given much attention at this visit. I was told another x-ray would be needed to diagnose this, which would cost me over $300. Given my situation, I can understand the need for this x-ray, but I had thought the "free appointment" would cover the costs of diagnosing the specific issue I had made the appointment for in the first place. The total cost for the treatment plan they proposed was over $4,000, all out-of-pocket. The very next day I had my regular dental checkup and cleaning, as well as an appointment to look at my gum issue, with my regular dentist. I was told that, although I did have some gum recession, my gums are otherwise healthy and without gum disease. Also, my bone loss was relatively minor. The gum abscess was diagnosed as being caused by a tooth that needed a root canal. I'm not saying Aspen engaged in deliberate malpractice here, but their behavior does seem a bit suspect. It also appears they didn't provide much of actual value at the free consult.
The people were great and nice. But, I had an appointment, was told they were running behind and that I could wait or come back. So, I chose to come back. At my next appointment it was over an hour before they called me back. And people that had appointments after me were called back. Also, cleanliness was a big question that I had. Things just didn’t seem as clean as other places I’ve been.
I had two appointments in two days at this location this week, one for evaluation and one for filling a chipped tooth and a cavity. It was the same dentist both times. On the second day, she asked my pronouns. When I provided them to her they/them, she invalidated them and then misgendered me for the rest of the procedure. The teeth are fine, which is why I didn't rate 1 star.
Couple months ago I went in to get a chipped tooth worked on. That one tooth had 4 appointments. First filling fell out a day or two after so I called to schedule another. Came back in for a a second and it fell out while he was working on it and they sent me home saying I'd need a crown. I had so much pain after that I kept calling daily until they agreed to put a temporary crown in while I waited for my permanent. I went in got it done and a week later the temporary crown fell out so I called again to only get the voicemail time after time. My mouth hurt so bad the only thing that would stop it was swishing cold water around my mouth repeatedly. I kept calling only to get voicemail and even tried their "emergency" number which never even rang just beeped and hung up. I ended up in the urgent care on a Saturday morning and was told I had an infection and given heavy pain killers and antibiotics. The pain still got worse even after that and taking pain meds. I went to the ER that night. I was told I had dry socket on top of the infection and given a numbing paste. I tried contacting Aspen after that to still only get voicemail telling me to call during office hours even though I was calling during office hours. I will not be going back ever nor will I ever recommend them. I'm still dealing with sides affects of this poor dentistry. I will say the people are very nice when you CAN talk to to them.
Made an emergency appointment for 9 a.m. I come to the appointment 15 minutes early as asked. I am greeted and fill out paperwork. I sit until 9:16 am and asked how long will this take. My appointment was for 9 a.m. I arrive prior to 9 a.m. and I see no other patients in the waiting room. I see everyone working in the building talking about whatever. While I'm sitting there waiting for a 9 o'clock and it's 9:20 a.m. I politely walked out because do I really want someone working on my mouth that doesn't have the work ethic to honor their own schedule times. Mouth is still in pain but rather deal with this than whatever was going on at Aspen dental.
The dental hygienist that I worked with was fantastic. Their billing practices are sketchy at best. We keep getting a bill for something we already paid. When we call to get it resolved, we get told they will look into it and call us back, but never do. Aspen sent a collections bill that was postmarked 10/22/20 and due 10/13/20. Not sure how that works. Still haven't gotten a call back on this and I doubt we will.
They were 30 minutes late to start my teeth cleaning and once I got back there the hygienist rushed through my cleaning and I was done in 10 minutes tops. I know I didn't get a proper cleaning, she didn't even floss. I would've rather them communicated and said they were behind and rescheduled me instead of doing a trash job on my teeth cleaning. I will be looking for a new dentist.
