I love this place and I recommend that people go to it all the time. Having books written by Andrew Wakefield who had conflict of interest and has bad science to "prove" that measles vaccines cause autism. Vaccines do not cause autism and it's really disrespectful that you all sell these books.
These guys at the Community Store are fantastic, and there are lots of great materials and supplies here for the autism and neurodiverse community here. I initially came in looking for resources and information for people I work with, and both Shannon and Maria were very welcoming and helpful to me. They're in a great location right in the heart of the Aurora community, too - right by Chuck E. Cheese and Hazelbrook's REAL Center, and a short walk just from places like Barnes and Noble. Keep up the great work! Highly recommended to anyone in the community looking for supplies, toys, and resources.
They hosted an Autism Society vax clinic today and my 11 year old with autism and a severe fear of shots received so much support and patience while we worked through almost 90 minutes of a meltdown. When we finally got the shot done and I burst into tears, everyone was so kind. We didn’t get to purchase anything today because it was quite chaotic for us, but we will be back.
Great store full of wonderful supplies and resources for people on the spectrum. Shannon was super helpful and extremely kind to help me get connected with more resources. They have tons of great sensory toys!
Been to store, been to events. Both equally Ableist. How about we think about wheelchair accessibility when placing store displays and having events? Events in dirt/grass are not only not wheelchair accessible but also very dangerous for anyone with any level of disability. Also quite upset over the halloween event; lack of allegen friendly candy and lack of anyone wanting to give to adults with Autism. Like really? Or go way back to autism Resource Fair, also in grass and also pretty much targeting Autistic kids or those with money. Very sad how Ableist a store can be that claims inclusive to all. Find a better business that actually thrives to be inclusive to all because this, this is not that. This store is just about as bad as Autism Speaks is which is very much not putting thought into asking the community how things could be better. Not listening to complaints made. Bring in those of us with disabilities to help you find ways to make things inclusive and accessible. Stop ignoring complaints. We deserve better.
I love the ACS! I stopped by last week to pick up one item and couldn’t help but get another! As a service provider for autistic children and adolescents, it’s local resources like the Autism Community Store that help our kids continue succeed and grow- breaking the mold of expectations. If you have a child on the spectrum, you have to visit ACS near the Aurora Mall! They have what you want and what you didn’t even know you needed! The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
3 autistic teens walk into the store and they just start showing us all the best fidget toys and most interesting things. Legit is the best place to go if you have an autistic kid, wish my parents took me here when I was young.
Me and my friends are all on the spectrum, we visited this store together and we loved it so much we didn't wanna leave. Good experience and good stuff!
Went in for the first time with my autistic son. We don't normally let him walk around store but I figured this one was geared for him. He is non verbal so when he gets excited he gets loud. We were asked if we could quiet him down because they were going live in the other room away from the store. Well we were going to buy quite a bit of stuff because there is nothing like this in the Springs, and be a repeat customer. If my son can't be himself in a stored geared for him then they don't need my busines.
I'm fortunate enough to live right down the street from this store. Every single time I've been here the employees have been more than helpful, very very kind hearted people working here. They always have what I'm looking for and it's either the same or less price as what you'll find online which I think is amazing. My son absolutely loves the lights They have hanging up. Love love love this store.
