Avis Rent A Car

Nothing was bad about our experience, but I'm docking one star because they could have made the process better. Reservation check in went fine although they did not have the vehicle type that we reserved. We received a pick up truck for an upgrade but the person behind us was going to have to settle for a minivan for their substitution which I would not have been happy about. When we returned the vehicle in the early morning hours before the desk opened, there could have been better signage in the parking garage to explain the process. We parked in the general area of the other Avis vehicles and once we got to the desk inside, the box on the counter said the mileage/fuel level/parking spot number needed to be written on the rental agreement envelope. We had the info with us but there were other patrons who we saw walking back to the garage to get the required info.

It was my first time renting a car and I was nervous about it + the low reviews, but I had a great experience. I booked online last minute and Avis was one of the only places with availability at a reasonable price. Very quick check-in. I was in and out on the road within minutes. There is also a deposit fee, which I didn’t know until I picked it up. I got in a new car with about 5K miles on it. Very clean and drove smooth.

Don at the Avis desk in Burlington Vermont has always been super!! Just booked a car Sept.6-13 2022 for my grandson’s wedding. The flight was delayed and the car was not available, but as usual, Don put us in another vehicle that was better. My wife and I have been traveling to Vermont for over 10 years and Don has never disappointed us!!! Thanks to him, we only rent cars with Avis!!

Reservations are worthless with AVIS Car Rental. We had 6 people in our party so I made my reservation several months in advance. I paid for the reservation upfront. Not only did AVIS not have the vehicle that I had reserved, they did not have anything even remotely like it. We waited in line for over an hour. When it was our turn to obtain our previously reserved vehicle, AVIS did not even have a rental available. The AVIS clerk's response was, "I don't know what to tell you." There is no point in making a reservation with AVIS.

Staff was very accommodating at the time of reservation as well as car drop off. He before hand explained the bill. Avis cars are always in great condition. They are clean as well as come with all the great features.

Avis is great as always, but the car I always get reeks of weed and/or stale cigarette smoke regardless of the city I’m in. This is a major pet peeve of mine. I typically pack air freshener or a bunch of dryer sheets to fix the smell while I’m driving it. Aside from the smell, the car always runs great, and the staff are always friendly. I recommend this business…maybe bring a car freshener.

Worst car rental I have ever had in Burlington VT. No one around to check in the cars for returns. Person behind the counter could not be bothered to lift his head from his phone while standing right in front of him. Just threw the keys on the counter. I am done with Avis

0 stars for pick up at Burlington, VT airport. Absolutely no direction by counter personnel as to what line ot get into. Apparently there were lines for registering to wait to pick up a car, and lines for pick up, etc.. Someone got up to the counter and was sent to a different line to waste more time. I had a reservation and had to wait an hour for a car. One could barely hear names called when cars were available. Ridiculous! Everything was in disarray. 5 stars for Avis customer service rep Matt in West Springfield, MA, who went out of his way to help me exchange the piece of junk that I picked up at the Burlington, VT airport. Two of the tires were going flat and the rear liftgate did not work. I am lucky that I made to MA without an issue. I eventually had to drive to VA. The first car would have never made it. Thank you Matt for being so kind and helpful. Matt really seemed to enjoy his job and it showed. Terrific cutomer service rep.

For renting a Premium full size SUV. this was the first time for me to rent from AVIS. worst one that I have ever gotten, It had been in an accident, bad repair job, dirty car, rinsed off and not washed, Tank was supposed to be full and it was not

Quick in and out but if you have a coupon or promo code they may charge you exorbitant fees to make ANY changes. You must call corporate to discuss changes, NOT the local desk. In BTV's location, one agent hung up on me because i was upset that my fee was doubled for keeping the car 3 hours over the return time.
