Barbara's New Beginnings

I used to love this store. It is the only store in Indy that used to know how to properly fit a bra. Unfortunately, the service has declined. My last visit I left with two bras that are not correctly sized. I shouldn't have bought them but I did. I could go back to try again and exchange what I have but I'd rather not. I told the lady fitting me that what she brought me was too big but she couldn't be bothered to listen or re-measure, just argued with me. I wish there were other local options! I plan to sell the bras I have and I'll just go back to using Third Love. It takes longer to use online/mail services but Third Love's fit guarantee is worth it.

2/2/23: Their posted hours were wrong for Thursdays. I drove all the way over there only to have them lock the door right as I was walking towards the store about 5 minutes before 6 pm. They claim that they can't seem to get Google to fix it. So don't waste your time trying to go there after work on Thursdays. I went to Google maps and suggested a change to their hours when I got back to my car. About 7 minutes later, I received an email from Google approving my recommended changes to their hours. It's funny how that works! I hope the update that I made helps others. Update 2/4/23: I returned because I really value a good bra fitting and quality bras. I had a fantastic experience. The whole staff was friendly and apologized for the hours mix up and even thankedbme for returning. My salesperson initials AMK was excellent. The shop was clean and well organized. I initially was concerned because I didn't see any bras on the racks; however, I quickly learned that they have an expansive store room in the back. My salesperson mentioned NY favorite brand, Fantasie, first and I knew I was in the right place. They also have a wide variety of other top brands. I am really glad that I came back and I look forward to returning in the future

I don’t do reviews , I waited a long time hoping Things got better. I went there in about 2014 and got a wonder fitting and great bras, that I still have and are fine. The name of bra Goddess. I have lost about 45 pounds and went for new bra in summer 2021. The young girl fitted me with very tight bras, give me extends Said they would stretch out. If I gain 5 lbs I barely get them on and can’t wait to take off. These are very very tight, shoulder straps will not stay up. I find ways to get out of wearing a bra. I paid a lot of money for bras I don’t went to wear. Bottom line just like shoes , don’t buy bras that don’t fit you there, because they never will no, matter what you are told.

I am beyond disappointed. My daughter blew her knee out and wasn't able to make her appointment, so I went in her place to help her find anything tight fitting to wear under her wedding dress. The ladies acted like I was a leper and I am still not quite sure as to why they wouldnt let me spend the 250.00 I was prepared to spend to make my daughter look and feel beautiful on her big day. I traveled to Indy from Germany to help in any way possible, and not only was I turned away, I am seething enough to leave this review. I dont even want to give one star. Never. Again. Barbara.

Barbara's New Beginnings, a Hidden Gem. Let me start with Wow. I went here, I had no idea what to look for. When making a new Beginning in anything, a person is really sensitive to everything. I first went in to get a Professional Bra fitting. Sarah put my worries at ease, and everyone at Harvard's made me feel welcome. Sarah took the time to explain every detail of all the bras there to me. The quality and amount of of variety was shocking. I got the information I needed from Sarah, but was not sure of what to do. I said I would be back. I came back 2 days later, I checked prices online, Barbara's was a lot cheaper, but a cheaper price is not always the most important. This was experience which opened my eyes to a place where I could say exactly what the problems and concerns I had. I have had a medical doctor tell me to get a bra because of a medical condition, a horrible car wreck, and a severe back injury. I state this because I felt so out of place and really worried when I walked in. When I left 2 days later, I feel like a new person. Also the thought to every detail was there, the decor was thoughtful, and correct while the cheerful pleasantness of that hidden gem will always be with me. If you want best, this is the place!

Fantastic place for inexperienced bra shoppers like myself. Helped me to pick the right size and the options were very comfortable. They keep your sizing info and preferences on file, will make it nice when the husband wants to pick me up something special.

I’ve purchased a few times from this store and they are amazingly helpful and have an incredible amount of stock. Unfortunately, due to COVID they only take appointments now and didn’t answer the phone when I called 1.5 hours before arriving. I was going to spend $300-$400 between my daughter and I, but will be taking my business online since I since I don’t live in-town. I still highly recommend them, but do call days ahead. I did not. I hope they get an online booking mechanism soon.

I had my first ever fitting today with Riley. She took she back into the fitting room and had me remove my shirt, and measured around my ribcage with my bra still on; from there, she was able to go and pick a few bras out for me to try. She did help me into them, so I was bare chested for that part of the fitting, but she was honestly so kind and accommodating that I didn’t feel uncomfortable or insecure about it at all. I pretty much knew which bras I wanted in the first 20 minutes of the appointment, and I was out the door about 45 minutes after I stepped in with 2 brand new bras which fit me SO well. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough, Riley especially was an amazing fitter!

Beautiful experience! Had some elective surgery to address something I've hated all my life & then afterwards had no idea what size I was or how to find what fit well AND felt good on. NEVER liked buying or wearing bras. To go from there to being completely pampered and fitted for each bra she adjusted them on me how they were supposed to fit me and Ohmygoodness!!! Combine all that with the quality of the fabrics and every single luxury detail on the bras themselves ... I honestly never knew wering a bra could be so comfortable. It was all very worth it. Very personalized. Very professional. Quality products. Highly recommend!!!

The hours of operation aren’t very customer friendly, but when I found myself with some free time in the middle of the day, I stopped in. I was asked if I had an appointment, which I did not. No worries said the greeter - I didn’t need one, only to then be told by someone else that they didn’t have any openings and to come back in an hour. There was only one other customer in the store, all the fitting rooms appeared open, and the appointments for which I was being eschewed weren’t to start for another 15 minutes. I don’t think these folks want my money. If that were my business, I’d never let a sale walk out the door. Disappointed.
