I adopted my dog almost two years ago and it has been a pleasure having her around. For months prior to the adoption, I searched the website daily for smaller dogs but was beat by other applicants. When I submitted my application, I received a prompt response from the center requesting me to come in to meet her. It was love at first sight! She was spayed, received a medical exam and within 3 days of submitting the application, I took Bella home. The adoption fee was only $75 which includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, information pamphlets and dog food. I would certainly adopt from Barcs again in the future.
I adopted both my cats from there. The wait was long but it was worth it. The ppl at BARCS truly care for all their animals. There was a fee associated with the adoption but it was for the spay/nurture for both cats. They were kittens when I adopted them and are cats now. I love my babies. BARCS is doing great things for the community.
I got my beautiful cat from barcs last week. He is up to date on shots , neutered, and microchipped. He is 6 yrs old so he was free. He is a very sweet loveable Kitty. The shelter is very clean and the 4 times I was there before I found my perfect kitty I saw volunteers walking dogs and playing with them the entire time I was there. I recommend this shelter 100%. They seem to treat the animals very good there. I would recommend coming as soon as they open because it gets very busy in there and if the animal is already spayed/ neutered you can usually bring them home that day but if it gets close to closing time you will have to come back because they need time to meet with you to discuss anything they know about the animal.
I got my baby from her almost 4 years ago and I love her so much she is Prosciutto. Because my roommate asked me how much Prosciutto I could buy with the adoption fee. Well it's about 17 lbs. BARCS dose amazing work in the community. The adoption fee is very reasonable.
Hands down the place to go to rescue a pet. The facility is very clean and you can tell the staff cares a lot about the animals. I was very glad to see a large majority of the pets we looked at online had already been adopted. It seems the turn around for the animals is very quick. I highly recommend this facility but you can never go wrong with choosing to rescue. We were able to pick up our new fur child without any issues. The adoption fee and package we chose was only $75 total. They neutered him, gave him his recommended vaccines and chipped him. They gave us the medication he was currently using and provided instructions after he left. I will definitely get my next rescue from here.
They are a helping people, and so very nice we are so blessed for had this shelter close to us.
Went yesterday because I had fell in love with a dog named pelusa I had seen online the staff is very nice and easy to talk to i cannot wait to bring home pelusa next weekend this was by far the best experience I've had with going to a rescue or shelter ive also adopted a black cat named simon i renamed Salem I definitely recommend the staff Is wonderful
Edit: I’m keeping my original written review up in case reading the experience is helpful for people, but Im changing it to 5 stars. I still wish I got more info from the beginning, but since writing the review, BARCS has gone above and beyond to resolve the situation. Alibi née Misty is doing great and is enjoying her life post crate rest. Thank you so much BARCS! … First, I just want to say BARCS does wonderful work and all of the employees/volunteers I spoke with were lovely. I’m writing this review because I don’t want anyone else to be in the situation I am in. I adopted my cat Alibi nee Misty from BARCS this past Tuesday. She was 3 weeks post-op from SI surgery after being hit by a car. I asked a lot of questions before taking her home to make sure that it was the right decision for both of us. I asked whether it would negatively affect her recovery moving to a new environment and was assured it would be fine. I asked what special measures I should take to make sure she heals properly. I was told that she needed to be on crate rest for the next 5 weeks, I shouldn’t pick her up, and someone from BARCS would email me to set up her 4 week follow up x-rays with the vet that performed the surgery. Knowing that the vet who performed the surgery would be involved in follow-up care made me feel confident adopting her. I followed BARCS’ instructions. On Thursday, I still hadn’t heard back about the radiology appointment she needed the next week, so I emailed BARCS. I was told she didn’t need a follow-up radiology appointment. I followed up yesterday asking them to double check. I tried calling the number and was redirected for half an hour. Today, I received an email saying that Alibi does need follow up scans, but I’m responsible for setting them up at a different vet. I was expecting to pay for the scans at BARCS- I just wanted the vets who’ve seen Alibi throughout her medical journey to be the ones who did follow up because they know her. Also today, Alibi’s surgical site started to bleed. She’d been grooming it a lot since I brought her home, but I’d assumed it was healed enough not to be an issue because I was never told in my aftercare instructions to prevent her from grooming the area. It was also never suggested she might need an e-collar. I’m taking Alibi to an animal hospital tomorrow to address the wound and get follow up x-rays. I absolutely adore Alibi and do not regret adopting her. I knew that adopting a cat who had just had major surgery would come with unforeseen challenges. I just feel like the challenges Alibi and I are facing now should have been anticipated by the BARCS team. Proper information would have prevented the whole situation.
Best experience I have ever had. Friendly knowledgeable. Doesn't make you feel you are alone. They offer training for the life of your pet. I was so nervous they eased my fears. They not only walk the dogs regularly they have play time let all the dogs out together. I left Thursday told my daughter about my experience and she left yesterday with a dog of her own. Bixby mine is King. I only had to pay $10 application fee. Dogs over 5 free. Love this place. You will not be disappointed.
I went to turn in a dog that I found a month ago. And they made me fill out paperwork as the owner. I had to fill it out in the freezing cold. They would not let me in. They wouldn’t take the dog. I had to make an appointment to come back to surrender the dog. This form I had to complete was not online. When you call the recording says that they prefer an email. I never got a response.
