Fabulous food and service. The 4-course menu is a great value. each person gets to choose their preferred appetizer, pasta, entree and dessert. My friends and I agreed that all of the pasta options were great. The gnocchi is really well made. It isn't heavy. My scallops were perfectly cooked. I really liked the wine options while my old fashioned was decent. Ultimately, I would focus on wine vs cocktails here. FYI, very few of the menu options are plant-based. You may want to call if you have a vegetarian to see what options they have.
Special Anniversary Dinner. Cozy and intimate restaurant tucked away from the business of South Park, but in close proximity. Excellent personal service and top notch food. Loved that there were a really small number of tables available in the restaurant.
The restaurant was very small but nice place to have a nice meal. Because the place is small it was kind of loud. The food was very good, what I didn't like was you had to order a four course meal. I wasn't expecting to eat a four course meal. The service was good.
This place is awesome! Been coming here originally from northern Virginia and now from lake Oconne Georgia. Every time we come we are not disappointed. Service , staff and kitchen are amazing. Never a bad meal or experience. We just ate there November 22 . Always a wonderful experience . Special shout out to Shelia and Jen and Chef. Thank you for a great experience each time we visit!
As anyone who follows me knows, I don’t like to complain. However, I am posting on Barringtons based on how I was treated on Tuesday not the food. Please know Barringtons has been my family’s go-to celebration place for several years now. The food is consistently delicious and I love the atmosphere. However, Tuesday I was met with a snobby attitude and was turned away. Here’s my take — meeting some girlfriends after work around 6. We had planned to go to Foxcroft Wine but when arrived, we found they were closed for an event. So I said I’d see if Barringtons had a table… when I walked in they had maybe two tables seated inside, maybe one on the patio. Plenty of space. I asked the folks behind the little bar if we could sit outside for drinks and nibbles and was told by a woman I’ve seen there numerous times “no, we don’t do that.” I was surprised but said okay and left. Mind you, I was dressed up from work and wasn’t in sweats or other other scuzzy clothing. And too bad for Barringtons as we went elsewhere and ended up spending about $150 on wine, appetizers and a meal. Shame on them for being snobby. I have to say, I don’t think they’ll be my go-to place anymore. Charlotte has too many good restaurants for anyone to act like this. Bye
This was our first time, but we will be back, especially for Barrington's winter menu it will have steak. We ordered braised octopus delish. For our main course we opted for juicy perfectly cooked to medium rare lamb chops and mouth watering scallops. Paired with Malbec, this was an excellent dinner!
Superior overall service made my dining experience noteworthy. Excellent quality of fresh ingredients. Delicate seafood dishes, like the Octopus and Sea Scallops were prepared flawlessly. A generous portion of the decadent foie gras made my eyes sparkle. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the duck breast entree. Do not skip dessert! You won't want to miss out on Baklava Cheesecake, or if you are lucky, they will still have the seasonal apple cranberry cobbler.
My summary would be “try it once”. The food was really good, and obviously sourced fresh and locally. And the prices were fine. We also got turned on to an excellent wine while there. That being said, it’s a very small restaurant and when they are at capacity, it becomes a loud, claustrophobic vibe, instead of the quaint romantic atmosphere we were hoping for. They either need to enlarge the space or reduce the number of tables they have. A drunken party of 4 seated two tables down nearly ruined our dinner with their very loud and boisterous conversations. I asked the server to please ask a manager to have them take it down, but at a fine dining establishment, why wouldn’t the manager do that without me having to ask? Their 2-top table is TINY. We felt crowded trying to keep all of our dishes, flat ware, menus, candle, etc on that table. The couple to our right had a much wider table. Odd inconsistency for fine dining. Overall I’m glad we checked it out, but I doubt we will go back.
Excellent food and ambiance... Always consistent... Menu changes seasonally... Supports local farms and artisanal vendors
