Baxter Bog is a wonderful place for an afternoon walk or morning run. Depending on where you start, there is ample parking. Baxter Bog is a very peaceful park where it is easy to escape the city vibes of Anchorage. My dog and I thoroughly enjoy our walks and runs here throughout the year.
Wonderful area of town to experience nature and wildlife. Always find myself escaping to this little oasis Easy access to Baxter Elementary playground and you'll encounter plenty of off leash dogs. In the Spring/Summer months beware of the mosquitoes. While bug repellent helps, it is quite the battle when walking through certain areas.
We came in the winter, and it was breathtaking. The walking path that goes around the frozen pond was gorgeous. It's a peaceful winter wonderland in the middle of Anchorage!
A quick walk around but so much nature it's beautiful to walk with your little ones.
Mosquitoes will carry you away as you walk the loop. Biking would be best.
Alanine Park with great trails. The trailheads are in neighborhood areas but the park is set back enough that it isn't actually in the neighborhoods. Also the trail goes near a playfulness so the kids live it. Great for biking and walking dogs to!!!
I LOVE this park. I have done the loop around many times, once with a bike. I dont see much people there, I love how the scenery changes from birch to evergreen trees and it feels so wild in there. Totally worth for a quick walk and some fun pictures which look like you went deep in the woods to take :
Nice loop around a buggy big. Lots of wildlife. Nice for skiing in snow seasons. Bug and bird habitat where one discerns angry nesting birds and hungry mosquitoes by their plumage.
Nice walk, encountered a moose, not uncommon.
Awesome small trail in town, felt like I was deep in deep woods at some points. Found a few cool things, overall its a nice place to take a walk.
