I went o BCN during Restaurant Week and I left with mixed feelings. They are known for the Gin Tonic but honestly I only felt the cucumber taste on mine rather than the mix of ingredients. Overall, protein portions were small compared to the size of the plate and I don't think the cost vs benefit is worth it. Service is great from reception to tables but not sure if I would be back.
Came here for Houston Restaurant Week and loved it!! I was surprised that it's located inside a residential house that was turned into a restaurant. It's tucked inside a residential area too. For drinks, I got their most popular mocktail which has pieces of grapefruit. It was good but a bit bitter from the grapefruit. 4/5 First course was the 6 oz filet mignon with a smashed potato and pearl onions. The steak was cooked medium and I enjoyed it. Very tender, not too bloody, and crispy on the exterior. 5/5 Second course was the chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and a side of vanilla ice cream. The mousse was delicious but the cake had a bit of bitterness. 4.5/5 I liked my friend's dessert, fillo dough with vanilla brulee, better although it's 3 bites and you're done. 5/5 We had 4 to 5 servers/waiters. They served us 2 tiny bite-size appetizers while waiting for our courses. One was ham croquettes and the other was a small cubed bread with something that tasted like a potato with tomato. The service was great. Checked on us multiple times. The main waiter was very nice, told us the popular choices, and answered any question we had. The only negative is the food portions. Quite small for the amount of money you're paying, which was $73, with 20% gratuity included. I will definitely like to come back but only for a special occasion. Parking: Either valet parking or find parking in the neighborhood.
BCN Taste & Tradition in Houston is a participant in Houston Restaurant Weeks, a citywide event where restaurants offer special prix-fixe menus with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Houston Food Bank. It's a great way to try some of Houston's top dining spots while supporting a good cause. My experience at BCN Taste & Tradition was a mix of highs and lows. The restaurant has a beautiful, elegant atmosphere that states sophistication—almost to the point of feeling a bit too pretentious. Think "sit up straight with your pinky in the air while sipping espresso" kind of vibe. It's clearly a place designed for those who appreciate the finer things in life, but it can come off as a bit over the top. They’re known for their gin and tonics, which is a unique and cool aspect of the restaurant. I decided to try the squid rice with Branzino. While the portion of rice was generous, the fish itself was almost comically small—maybe about 3/4 oz. My fiancé opted for the duck, which our waiter warned us would be a small portion as well. The duck was delicious, but the portion size was indeed tiny, especially given the price point. The food was good, but I couldn't help but feel like I was paying for the atmosphere more than anything. For what we spent, we could have gone somewhere else and actually left feeling full. While BCN Taste & Tradition certainly delivers on ambiance and presentation, the portion sizes left much to be desired. If you're someone who enjoys high-end dining experiences with a side of extravagance, this might be your spot. However, it's just not my style, and I likely won’t be returning. There are plenty of other places in Houston where you can get more value for your money.
The food was incredible. The chef's tasting menu was so rich and so well thought out. Our server Guillermo had great recommendations and was incredibly knowledgeable. He picked incredible drinks and food for us. After dinner, he showed us all the original art work and talked about it with us. Some of the best service ever. I highly recommend
BCN continues to outdo themselves time and time again. Every morsel was exquisite and a work of art. The cocktails and wine recommendations we receive are always amazing and perfectly paired. Our group this time around was torn on dessert so we sampled nearly every option! Delicious!
All was impeccable, from valet to service and food. Seriously great experience. Will be back for sure. I recommend the tartare as appetizer for sure but all is delicious. Try the romesco sauce as well. Thanks so much for the wonderful anniversary guys!Food: 5/5
We had terrible service there . Our waiter was very pushy and would not give us any time to order , felt very rushed . We left after ordering our drinks and appetizers . The manager was nice enough to offer us to have dinner on them however by this time we were already turned off and went elsewhere instead. Food looked pretty and appetizers were good .
This spot was just ok. The service was great but we were seated upstairs and the wooden floors make the private rooms very noisy. The food was just ok - I’ve had some of the best in Spain and this didn’t live up to it unfortunately. We tried a variety of dishes and the only ones I’d even recommend are the ones with the asterisks. - Seared Bluefun Tuna and Green Obions, Eucalyptus Oil, Mushroom and Bonito Flake Sauce, and Beet Vinaigrette - Spanish Octopus Served with Potato Puree, Olive Oil, and Smoked Paprika - Patatas Bravas* - Grilled Wild-Caught Branzino with Avocado, Orange, Grapefruit, Pine Nuts, and Warm Mayonnaise Foam* - Grilled Lamb Chops with BCN Potatos, Sauteed Artichokes, and Garlic Aioli - Crispy Fillo Dough, Catalan vanilla brûlée and aged rum raisins* - “Tarta de Santiago” almond cake, homemade lemon marmalade served with sweet Muscat wine - Chocolate Molten Cake, Hazelnut, Cardamon, and Vanilla Ice Cream
My husband and I recently dined at BCN for our anniversary and had the best experience. Not only did the staff provide an elegant table with rose petals and an intimate candlelight display but also the boss/manager, Paco, complimented our drinks and entire dinner. BCN has truly cornered the market on both customer service and creating memorable dining experiences for its guests. Overall experience and food quality is 10/10 and we would definitely recommend BCN to family and friends.
Truly an amazing dining experience! The sea bass was so fresh, well prepared and beautifully plated. The gin cocktails are equally beautiful. We also loved the molten chocolate cake; decadent and worth it! The restaurant is elegantly understated but not stuffy. The service is impeccable and friendly. Parking is valet and $8 not including tip. Highly recommend for one of the best meals in Houston!
