I hadn’t eaten here in more than 16 years but used to enjoy lunch when I worked at KAFB. I had a layover and convinced a friend to give it a try. We were not disappointed. Delicious food, excellent service, and cute atmosphere. I got my New Mexican food fix with red and green chiles Highly recommend. Much better than Los Cuates and each meal comes with two sopapillas. A New Mexican classic. You can’t find food this good anywhere else. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly place
The place used to be a Pizza Hut back in the day, and it is quite evident from the typical shape of the building's roof, to the interior, which truly feels like you stepped back in time to 1978. From the baby plastic dishes they use to serve the chips and salsa the tiniest tortilla chips I have ever seen in a restaurant, with literally one spoonful of salsa, see pics to the plastic plants used as part of the decoration. I had the huevos rancheros, which came with 2 sopapillas, corn or flour, I chose corn tortillas and beans. I had coffee with this, they charged me almost $4.00 for it, and the waitress only came to refill my mug one time despite the place being empty, not busy at all when I was there. The huevos were served in this funky green plastic-looking skillet, which made it look quite unappetizing, the dish came with rice but you couldn't tell because it wasn't mentioned in the menu, and because everything eggs, tortillas, rice was covered by the shredded cheese, the salsas, and the refried beans. The rice was hard, undercooked and flavorless, the sopapillas were fresh but rather small, and instead of giving you a bottle of honey, like all real traditional New Mexican restaurants do, they give you 2 packets of honey, which cheapens the whole thing even more. Service was ok, neither rude nor pleasant, but you could tell the server was either having a bad day, or that she'd rather be somewhere else. The bathrooms are filthy. The only good things I can say about the place are that it is relatively cheap about $19 for "chips and salsa", the huevos, the 2 sopapillas, and the coffee, and that there's plenty of parking. Other than that, I would try to find some other place to placate your New Mexican food cravings.
An alright restaurant overall. Nothing amazing about it though. The seats were not that comfortable. They were out of chips when I went, so no chips and salsa. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which was just okay. They definitely mean it when they say "smothered in green chile". It was almost soupy there was so much. Yet it wasn't very spicy. Somehow it left me wanting more but also less at the same time more spice, less liquid which is not what you want. It didn't taste bad though.
Good food, great restaurant, not busy at all, cute waitress, how cute? Biscuits were solid as a rockordered biscuts and gravy, still ate them, that cute. Go there. Bring your own biscuits.Food: 2/5
Bea's where have you been all my life?? Many ,many years ago I used to work at KAFB.. And, went to that very same restaurant, very same location, very often... I thought it closed down!!! NOT!! For a few short hours in the morning you can still go, and enjoy their wonderful food, the atmosphere is relaxing,quiet.. The service is great!! This place is a must!!! Just gotta wake up early, Duuh..
Great customer service and excellent food very yummyFood: 5/5
Honestly the customer service has gone down hill and the price is extremely over priced as well as their gratitude tip.. when the waitress was rude throughout the whole meal she added 20 dollar tip to the bill and then when my husband went to pay they added more taxes to pay for our meals we spent 109 dollars there. No wonder there's hardly anyone there.
I used to live in ABQ about 16 years ago and this was my favorite place to eat authentic delicious NM food. I returned to ABQ this weekend and first thing this morning I went straight to the restaurant and I was so happy to see it survived the pandemic. 16 years later and the food was frickin delicious. The prices were super cheap and I ordered everything. My waitress was great. If you want good authentic New Mexican food come here. I ordered the Chile relleno plate, a tamale smothered in green, 2 beef tacos with amazing salsa and my wife had a breakfast burrito with no Chile because idk and a bean taco. haha. She said it was great.
Traveling through from Texas, and decided to give this place a try. Our waitress was friendly and made suggestions for their most popular items! Absolutely delicious! Warm chips and cold salsa my personal favorite prepared the way for a festival of taste! My chicken burrito was seasoned well and served in the thickest, fluffiest tortilla I have ever eaten! Everything comes smothered in red or green chili so be sure to tell them if you want it dry with only cheese on top. Inside gives homey and inviting vibes. The sopapillas were the perfect finishing touch! My husband and I immediately began planning how to get an order of tortillas back to east Texas! Luckily they come frozen, so they should be just about ready by the time we get home! We will be back for sure the next time we are in this area!
Pretty laid back, clean no fuss envirenvironment. The food was surprisingly very good. We went during breakfast and will definitely be back to see I'd lunch/dinner is just as good. That will be the true test. Food: 4/5
