Beans & Cornbread

My husband and I was raised in Mississippi but been here in Michigan for over 25years. My husband and I was celebrating our 23 anniversary and was told of this place. We are from Flint township and I must say, I am a patience and classy person but it was worth the wait of 1 and half hour on a Sunday which is expected. Our server Alicia made us feel very welcome and got us what we needed. Thanks. I had the Salmon Quaquette w/3sides and my husband had the 3 meat dish with 3 sides (of which Alicia convinced my hubby to get the yams I wanted too) and in the end Alicia top it off with Sweet Potato Pie. Thanks again. This place took me back to memories of my mom's Southern Home Cooking

Please go across the street to Sweet Magnolia's...they have traditional soul food. This diamond in the burbs has lost its shine. The menu is stale and stagnant which leaves you frustrated as a true patron. When its winter you have to almost eat your food with your wrap on because the door is less than 3ft from the tables...this is Michigan! To top it off the prices are lower across the street, in a up to date atmosphere and setting. There was no wait when we arrived and we sat right down, Sweet Magnolias had a1/2 hour wait....so we came here.

Beans & Cornbread is an amazing place to eat if you're north of Detroit. They have so many dishes that are to die for. Their sweet cornbread muffins aren't free anymore but they are worth the up-charge. Their greens come with vinegar and hot sauce(as they should) and their catfish is incredible. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for some authenic soul food. Guaranteed to warm your soul!

Excellent food. Friendly service. Cozy and comfortable. Did I say excellent food?!! I never order from the dessert list at restaurant but i couldn't resist here. The peach cobber was orgasmic.

So they email out coupons for buy one get one free shoe box lunch on 3/14/18, good for the $11 fried perch lunch on Friday only for lent. The fine print says dine in only. What's the purpose of the shoe box lunch if its dine in only? Why would I want to eat out of a box the size of a shoe box in the dining room? Why can't I have it as carryout? Poor promotion.
