Really disappointed. I will not call Milwaukee 911 again and get stuck with Bell Ambulance. Service wasn’t good at all, as I was dropped in the ambulance being guided in by the techs being disoriented with a racing BP and pulse, and then charged $835 for a 1.4 mile ambulance ride to St Francis. Insurance agreed to apply only half of that to my deductible as that what is what they considered acceptable network cost, though I will end up paying the amount in full as Bell Ambulance isn’t in network. As an emergency service, how is it not covered by insurance? Even the insurance rep said that Bell Ambulance doesn’t play kindly with most insurance programs, given their pricing structure. How can Bell even charge that much? Price gouging at its finest. That’s how. This was my first emergency ambulance ride and disappointing experience all around. Steer clear!! I will not recommend Bell, and certainly won’t ask for them in the future.
I worked here for a year and a half and had no complaints. Good starting pay, 3/hr weekend bonus, and you can promote pretty fast if you take the initiative. Bell is very busy and a great place to start your ems or healthcare career if you enjoy being hands on and talking to people. Lots of different full time shifts and part time is super flexible. You will run a mix of 911, private 911, and interfacility. There are unique opportunities you can work like “PAMBO” MFD Shiftsonly 911, out of a fire station, 12s or 24s, lunch and dinner paid for, children's teamNICU driver, and occasional special events like Summerfest, Road America, Juneteenth, etc.
I had to be transported using Bell Ambulance in May of this year. I will NEVER use this service again. The ride was ok no complaints. The issue is around the billing department and their lack of willingness to work with insurance companies. As a customer I had to pay over 1,000 for a 20 mile ride and that was after my insurance Paid over 500. I was not even in need of the ambulance aa far as I know people don't die from a kidney stone. No thanks Bell. I am also telling everyone I know about this ridiculous charge and their bullying customers for payment.
My insurance paid them close to 1,000 for a 15 mile ride. They want another 2,200 from me because it is out of network. Guess what? Every ambulance ride by Bell is out of network. It is price gouging and should be illegal. They prey on people in their most vulnerable state. This an evil and deplorable excuse for a company that is supposed to help people.
Care was good, the issue I have is with their billing. After insurance paid for half, they want to charge me almost $800 for a two mile transport. They want to charge me for Mileage - $39.90 reasonable, $123-Oxygen nope, the Critical Care unit sent me with a tank, Finger Sensor-$58.25 seriously, isn't this a reusable item? EKG leads-$129.50 nope, already had them on from CC electrodes-$27.75 nope, already had those as well gloves-$18.40 nope, why should I pay for their consumables Linens-$34.50 nope-why should I pay for your linens. Seriously? This is why people take Uber.
This is only to the person screaming about Ambulances "blaring" their siren through town late at night.. maybe you need to look up your state statue as to what qualifies as an Emergency Vehicle. As for your fire department stops its sirens at 10pm and only uses it at intersections then runs with just lights. They are illegal. Have a good day
I was a supportive passenger in the vehicle. The techs were so concerned with the hospital selection they failed to check in so we had to stop in the lobby. I felt she was not validated by the minimization of her condition. The patient has a right to choose the location of their care.
Its almost funny, we received a bill today from an incident that happened this Monday. $704.00 for doing absolutely nothing. And they even sent little Bell stickers. SERIOUSLY??? They wasted no time getting that out! My daughter was attacked and pepper sprayed and county bus driver found her and called police. We have no Insurance to cover this and no primary Dr. If her sight isn't regained by tomorrow we have to return to the ER. The fireman who were the first responders who i spoke to, and were so kind to me, sprayed water in her eyes, then the paramedics arrived and refused to help her. Then once she was placed seating in the side chair in the ambulance that they covered in a paper tarp they showed complete lack of empathy.ZERO! She was screaming in pain because the chemical was burning her eyes face and begged them for water and a wet towel or wet gauze pad.She couldn't open her eyes so could not see. The paramedics told her if she wanted to herself pour water on her face and in her eyes, she needed to climb down out of the ambulance, because she wasn't making a mess inside of it. It took nearly an hour after the attack to get her to the hospital, though the hospital was less than fifteen minutes from the area. They were in no hurry!!!! They told her to wait until she got to the hospital and the hospital would help her. She begged over and over for a wet towel or anything, to help relieve the burning and they told her they weren't giving her anything to mess up inside the ambulance. They said water wouldn't help anyway because pepper spray is oil base, even though they weren't sure if it was pepper spray. And at the hospital, water is exactly what the kind nurses used to clean her eyes out. By then real damage was done. The hospital staff was furious that the paramedics refused her water. She had this chemical all over her face and hair and bangs, and the little water they poured on her at the scene made it worse, because her bangs ran into her eyes and down her face, reapplying the chemical back on to her skin. They didn't pin her hair back which is exactly what they are trained to do in this circumstance. I lost all respect for first responders period now. This very same ambulance company is one of the many we bought gourmet donuts to many many many times, as a show of general kindness and THANK YOU, though we never had to deal with them on a "professional" level. No good deed goes unpunished. They didn't place her on the stretcher because she was wet and did not turn the sirens on. They simply just didn't want to. I called her phone repeatedly and she asked for her phone, saying it was her mom, and they I didnt know what was going on ay this point. They told her she didnt need her phone. Of course not, because she would've told me how they were treating her. She was drenched and shaking as it was 29 degrees outside and she asked for a blanket or anything that could cover her and they ignored her. Her shoes and socks were soaked through and she repeatedly asked "Please can you cover me" and they said nothing. Maybe it's time to find a new career, like in a funeral home, because you definitely should not be in the business of caring for those medically in need. Disgusting behavior at best. NOW WE KNOW! I hope those other reviewers who are displeased filed a complaint.
My mother was living at Layton Terrace in December, 2016. She fell going into her room. The caregivers decided to call Bell Ambulance to take her to the hospital to make sure that she hadn't broken anything, and to see what her condition was. By the way, she is 91 years old. After finding out that nothing was broken, they transported her back to Layton Terrace. I have received a bill after Medicare paid their portion from Bell Ambulance. On the bill is said that this was a non-emergic transport and therefore my mother's secondary insurance would not cover any of the cost. I don't know how you can call this non-emergic. Wait until this happens to your mother and see how you feel about the bill.
They billed me $2000 for a fictitious ambulance ride on February 14th . They are located in Wisconsin and I am in Illinois no way was I in an ambulance on that or any date .
