Well. I ordered the only thing that I would not recommend. The Tuna Melt. While the Tuna itself was tasty, it was scarce and put between two pieces of dry toast. Unlike any Tuna Melt I've ever had in all our travels. My onion rings were hard, very greasy, and dark. Hubby ordered the Mediterranean Omelet and said it was amazing, while my son thoroughly enjoyed his Breakfast Burrito. We eat here every time we visit the area because their food is so good. I've had the Salmon Omelet before, and it was delicious. They're only open until 1:00, so plan accordingly. Their sister location, also called Bella's, has the best Italian food and pizza in the area of you have a craving.
Food was so great!! Super busy but worth the wait!! Only two servers but they worked their butts off and were amazing! We were planning to go to the Banner Elk Cafe but it was 10:30am and by the time we’d be seated they said they would no longer be serving breakfast since they stop serving breakfast at 11am. So we decided to look for another breakfast option. I’m so glad we found this place instead!! I got avocado toast with scrambled eggs and cheese grits, my husband got a build your own skillet, grits and a biscuit. One kid got a waffle with strawberries and chocolate chips and the other got chocolate chip pancakes. It was perfect!! We’re vegetarians and had plenty to choose from!! We will definitely go back!! Kid-friendliness: Plenty of options
A lovely way to start the day in Banner Elk. If you're in town for the land of oz or in the winter for the skiing I do recommend checking this place out at least once.Food: 5/5
I rarely write reviews but was compelled to attempt to help others. We arrived at 7:57am and opened the door to a dark empty room other than one young employee. We asked if they were open. She said I don’t know what time is it. 7:58am". So she said no and basically sent us back out in the rain to wait for two minutes. At 8 we walked back in and were seated right by the front door. Drab and dreary interior. Server was quick and polite enough. I ordered one gravy biscuit and my spouse ordered country fried steak with scrambled eggs and grits. 2 sweet teas. Food delivered quickly. Biscuit was good. Gravy was disgusting made from a powder with water added. We aren’t all that picky, but the egg was bland and basically inedible. To top it off, server asked if we needed more tea. My spouse said yes. Surely this is the only restaurant in the South that charges for a refill of tea. One of the few times in my life I would have preferred McDonalds. 30 bucks for probably the worst breakfast I have ever been served. Trust me…Avoid. Hard to imagine they ever receive any repeat business. I wanted to love the place as we plan to visit Banner Elk frequently.
The quiche was pretty good along with the home fries. Day 2 was Avocado toast and it was horrible. Bread was soggy, avocado not ripe and eggs were just eggs. My husbands waffle was ok. Not crispy at all The waitress one day one was sweet and attentive. The waitress on day 2 couldn’t have cared any less. Oh well, ya win some and ya loose some. Will definitely look for other options next time.
Good breakfast, not sure what other options there are in town, but we walked over from where we stayed. Only one server on a Saturday morning so manage expectations, it was packed. Food was solid, good coffee. Had a bit of everything, would happily stop back by if in area again. Was able to sit outside, and that was a big plus.Food: 5/5
We were seated for 10 minutes before getting menus. Then another 25 minutes passed as other people were seated and orders taken. When we spoke up, a waitress stated we should move up to a different table for a better chance of not being forgotten. There were three other tables of people around us. Then she said it would be another 45 minutes wait for food. We went elsewhere.
At most, adequate service and food. At arrival server was attentive which was misleading to their disappearance after order arrived. Good is extremely pricey for what you get. Sides of grits ordered and expected the usual size for a side. What was received was a salad dressing sized plastic ware. Equal to maybe 3-tablespoons.
Food was good. However when we were “seated” she pointed to a table and told us to sit and we waited 20 min before getting any menus. Waitress couldn’t have cared less and walked away without even taking everyone’s order. Other staff was talking to each other not paying attention to the people waiting to be seated. When given food we had no silverware and after asking we waited another 15 min before getting it. Very unpleased.
Came for my birthday and that last few times we have went by the place was packed out the door so this year we figured we would try it . Unfortunately the servers didn’t get us our drinks till we had already been sat about 20 minutes. Our server was so busy picking up her other servers slack we never got a refill or any help after we got our food .The heavy set server was very rude to customers trying to get them not to come in because they were “out of a lot of things and it wasn’t her fault if there wasn’t something you wanted “ . The people who sat outside got no help at all . On top of they pushed us out the door after trying to figure out our receipt to which she replied “shut the door if they haven’t figured it out now oh well “ this was 10 minutes before they even closed and had they took our order when we sat maybe we wouldn’t have finished right at closing time . Definitely do not recommend until they have new servers this was the one place where the people were just rude and had no care for the customer
