My friends and I were in Nicolás Zuluaga's Level 1 & 2 classes. We are also enrolling in his Level 3 class. I love the format of reviewing homework, speaking, reading, and learning new material. If you miss a class, you can take a make-up class that has the same homework/format. Nicolas is very good in that he engages all the students equally, no matter your level/ability. He's very encouraging and patient, especially with the speaking portion of the class. I highly recommend him! It doesn't matter if you make mistakes, as long as you keep trying.
While looking around for a Spanish class to take to heighten my skills in Spanish, I found this one thanks to a coupon on Groupon. I wanted to express really quick how much I enjoyed my time taking the classes here. Thanks to the current pandemic, I was able to experience the Spanish classes both in person and online. In person was great, the classroom felt like an actual classroom, the textbook that were handed out was very informative and explain things well. While the location was a bit tricky to find to be honest, after you go there a few times you start getting the hang of the location. My instructor, Karen, was also a sweetheart too. She explained everything well, and was super patient with us as well, and knew well how to teach when the classes moved online as well. For anyone taking classes at this Institute I highly suggest signing up for her class if you know that she's instructing them. Overall the Berges Institute was a great experience, and I learn alot during my first level of Spanish there. I will definitely come back to level 2 once the school reopens again after the pandemic.
I really enjoyed my Spanish class at Berges. The pace of the course was perfect - we received enough homework to help move things along but it was never overwhelming. Nicolas was a wonderful teacher - engaging, funny and just extremely knowledgeable about the Spanish language. I highly recommend taking one of his classes.
I am always trying to improve my Spanish and I have taken a lot of classes over the years. Taking a class at Berges Institute was a great experience. They are professional and well organized and Rolando was one of THE BEST Spanish teachers I have ever had. He was dynamic, explained things well and conducted the class completely in Spanish. My Spanish improved more in the last 10 weeks than it had in quite a while. I highly recommend!
I started here a few years ago in level 3 after having taken Spanish in college nearly 20 years before that. After a break and a class or 2 at another Spanish institute, I returned here because of their straight-forward, no nonsense approach to language learning. I'm now at level 5 and have enjoyed learning from my teacher who will remain anonymous so that hopefully his/her class won't become too overcrowded. Since the prices are affordable, I plan to continue after this class by taking a conversation class. My confidence in speaking continues to grow and I find myself speaking to Spanish in my head without even meaning to. I highly recommend Berges to learn Spanish.
Me and my wife took level 1 with Alexandra. We very much enjoyed the whole process and learned a lot in such a short time. I already enrolled for level 2. We liked their teaching method Graf. Berges is very good at communication with their students. Alexandra really cares for her students and replies every question with patience. She also makes a short review of previous class every time.
Decent, but not great. I have taken numerous intermediate to advanced Spanish classes at Berges Institue for years. I've also studied intensively in many other Spanish language schools in Central and South America, Spain and even New York. I would rank Berges as a decent school, but leaning toward mediocre. There are a handful of good teachers, yet the classes are very crowded. Friends of mine taking beginner level Spanish often complain that overcrowding is a considerable problem, which forces teachers to teach too fast for elementary Spanish. In high intermediate and advanced classes students of lower Spanish levels are often permitted, which is a real drag for students of said level. Lower level students struggle, requiring more help and time from the teacher, which feels entirely unfair for the advanced students paying for an advanced class. Berges Administration is a shifty character. I found that they have no loyalty to long-term students and will change rules to suit their billing needs. Students enrolled in a class are eligible for discounted private lessons. Pay close attention though, because Berges will change terms on those private lessons at any given moment. If you can manage to use the private lesson, I have found them to be helpful. Most of the Spanish instructors at Berges are good, yet as I write this, I realize just how many negatives there are to consider about this school. If you get a good teacher, it might be worth the hassle. Ladies, watch out for the bald teacher that wants to be a rock star. He is on a mission.
