So much more than meat ... Great baked goods, terrific kale salad at the wonderful deli, helpful and friendly staff. Stop in and grab a bite to eat! No kitchen? They'll heat up their pasta for you to take to go!
We loved this market! So unfortunate that we only found it on our last night in NY, but I will book my hotel again just because it's on the corner of this supermarket! Had the most delicious sandwich here, and for an incredible price! Definitely our best meal in NY. The staff was so lovely, they even went to the stockroom to look for a product for us and were friendly making conversation. The quality and the prices are very good for NY. definitely recommend!!
I want to give a huge shout out to The Big Apple Meat Market for their generosity to Amas Musical Theatre's Reopening Celebration. The meats, cheeses and cookies were delicious and greatly enjoyed by our guests! As an Artistic Associate w/ Amas & from all of us, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Big Apple Meat market is a somewhat compact grocery store with a big selection. The meat section is in a chilled room, and you can sometimes find surprising selections to try out in your kitchen. There is also a bakery and prepared foods. In recent months, they’ve even started selling take-away food out front. This store meets the needs of all kinds of people in the neighborhood: locals, commuters, and tourists alike.
I'm surprised I have not reviewed big apple market before, I've been there for years, shopped there for years, even when they temporarily relocated. You can't go wrong there, good quality good prices. If you're in the area check them out! PS also be sure to check out International Foods spice shop on 40th Street and the fish store next to it. Both are very good at what they do!
Our go-to for meat in Hell's Kitchen and our place to go for fruits and veggies when the local fruit stand doesn't have what we need. Staff is always friendly, especially the butcher who always says hi and smiles. This store also has a great selection of brands that cater to the Latin American community. Prices aren't usually as cheap as Target, but unlike Target, they usually have things in stock.
Excellent variety of goods and a much bigger improvement from the previous location. Glad they have returned to their original location after many years. The elevators are also very helpful for the elderly and disabled that have trouble with stairs. The lower level has an immense amount of goods to choose from. Only gripes I have is the single entrance that gets crowded and difficult to navigate around at high peak business times. Always keep an eye out for sales.
PRICES ARE TOO EXPENSIVE But it was not always like that. If you live around, go to Target on 45th st & 10th ave. Compare the basic prices of: eggs, milk , butter, bread, peanut butter, and others. Target is so much cheaper. Try once and you will be surprised.
I love the brand new location. So much more spacious than the previous location. Now shopping at the new Big Apple Meat Market at any time will be a pleasure. Prices might be a tad more higher than before, but they still beat Food Emporium's prices. And so glad they're much closer to where l live. Definitely will be shopping there more frequently. They're still the best in Hell's Kitchen.
The food in this market is unclean, do NOT recommend to purchase salads or food for ready to eat. I bought this Kale Quinoa and found a piece of label on the chopped red pepper. It looks disgusting and can guess they never washed the food when preparing, not even the effort to remove the label of the ingredients. Very bad experience for eating.
