We've been here for 3 years and I am surprised to see so many negative reviews. For us, maintenance requests have been honored quite quickly and Lena and her team have been quite accommodating, even if you need to politely insist on some of them. This building has a good quality to price ratio given its location that's very convenient.
It’s really disappointing how poorly this building is managed. The building manager, Lena Pager, ignores emails and screens calls. She also is incredibly rude and unhelpful when she does answer. She didn’t get me a copy of my lease for months, even though NYC housing code requires her to do so. Management refuses to buy new appliances to replace the old, damaged ones that break down every couple of months. And once you have an issue, maintenance requests take months to be resolved. I didn’t have a working dryer for over 3 months. The air and heat barely work and have not been fixed. They also refuse to reimburse or discount rent for failing to make repairs in a reasonable timeframe. For the cost you’ll be paying here, you’d be much better off finding a different building. The pool was a big sell for me and it was closed most of the summer without warning.
Earlier today, I reached out to Brooklyn Air for more information on a unit they have available. When I called, I did not have the best customer experience, initially. However, the leasing agent I spoke with sensed that I had more questions and followed up with me in the same day, a few hours later to ensure that all of my questions were answered and that I felt I received the same level of care/concern/respect as if I were meeting in-person. I appreciate that Courtney went above and beyond to leave a positive impression about Brooklyn Air. I’m looking forward to working with her.
Friendliest door men. Management refuses to clean windows for 4th year in a row which is a shame given that you are asked to pay for the views.
While the building appears to be luxury, the management company that owns this place, Lalezarian Properties, LLC, is terrible. Rather than being accommodating to the tenants, Lena, the property manager, and Kevin, the principal owner of the management company ignore tenants. In order to get any assistance, multiple tenants have to band together to sign a petition. For gym use, since most of us are working from home due to the pandemic, there has been multiple requests by tenants to have the gym opened past 4pm and it to be cleaned more regularly. I have met tenants who wanted to get out of their lease for personal/health related reasons and found people who were willing to take over their lease but Lena would not even try to be accommodating in any way. The staff also do not seems to honor Covid guidelines of wearing a mask. In addition, since I've been here, there have been multiple changes to the leasing office administrators. None of them stay in the position for more than a few months, making it seem like working for Lalezarian Properties, LLC is equally difficult as being a tenant for them. Something I was unaware of prior to move-in, filing maintenance requests are absolutely useless. They do not give a date or time window in which they plan to fix any issues. Seems like getting a filter changed in the fridge or the dryer takes north of a week and issues with pipes and toilets take bare minimum 3 days and that's only if you ask the front desk for an ETA on service requests. The maintenance team seems to be unprofessional as well. Ezra, one of the maintenance members, is overly flirtatious with the tenants and some of the tenants I have spoken to are very uncomfortable with that. When tenants have called Lena about this, she seemed unbothered or didn’t respond. There are many other reasons to steer clear of this building. The positive reviews seem fake after only living in this building for a few months. As a precaution to perspective tenants who wanted to move to the area, I would stay away from Bklyn Air and Bklyn Gold, which are both owned by Lalezarian Properties, LLC.
I lived here on two different occasions - my first experience was uneventful until the day I moved out and the super verbally attacked me for not going fast enough even though I hired professional movers who were responsible for the move. My second experience was much more difficult. They frequently send nasty messages to all tenants, reprimanding us all for one or two tenants actions. They also allow tons of people into the pool who don't live there, causing us renters to not be able to enter or have to lay on the floor. When COVID-19 hit and I lost my job, I tried reasoning with them to let me out of my two year lease a month in. They had no empathy and now I'm using a lawyer to handle it.
I've been here for about a month now and could not have had a better experience. I've lived in a few high rises but none with a staff like the one here. They go above and beyond to make sure you have what you need and all your questions are answered - a special shout to Alex K, Sam O, and Alex L who especially exemplify this! And I'm also very pleasantly surprised at how quickly service requests are completed - with no compromise to quality. Definitely recommend! — UPDATE AUG 2021 Management changed at some point last year, taking all their people with them. You are now lucky if anyone follows up on your service tickets - even if your ceiling is literally leaking.
While the building staff are incredible and so friendly, the building management is absolutely terrible. Things are always breaking and the building is not maintained and updated. They cut corners in every unit with cheap materials. Not to mention, the management company lacks compassion and professionalism. They are not responsive and don’t seem to really care about the tenant experience.
I have lived here for 6y, partly because I loved the apartment layout&was too lazy to move. But with Covid&rents plummeting I finally decided to move&I am glad about it. The good-ish: -Convenient location to subway but not much of neighbourhood around it. Be aware of the police&fire station right next door&be ready for lots of siren noise, I got used to it but its still intense especially at night. -Doormen are super nice&friendly, except for Miguel who scares visitors of, not sure why the guy still has the day shift. Do not even try to tell him good morning to him, you wont get anything in return. All other doormen are super friendly&helpful they are a bit too relaxed when it comes to wearing a mask but then so were most of the other tenants -Amenities are ok. Pool&rooftop were a bit too small for my taste&get very crowded very quickly. Also too many guests were allowed at the pool which meant no space for real tenants. No umbrellas either so be ready to just sizzle. -good fridge, microwave&oven. Washing machine is a joke, no brand&did poor job. -Move in&move out was easy, no issues with it or getting deposit back. The bad: -I was one of the first tenants&the quality of the building is appalling. They cut corner wherever they could. No insulation. I had electricity outlets that simply had nothing behind them. I didn’t have any water damage myself but when I moved&pulled out the sofa the floor behind it was all rotten, apparently my AC was leaking. Yuck. Entrance door was banging non stop due to the draft, seemed like the door was too small to fit the frame. -Early on I noticed that my electricity bill was huge which I started to question. Mgt put me off so did Coned, I kept disputing it&saying something is wrong as I hardly use AC. Eventually Coned showed up&tested everything&found out that my meter was measuring the apartment above me instead of my own. They fixed the meter&wiring. Mgt had to pay me back $300. -Because of the bad quality of the windows you could literally feel air coming in, blinds were moving&there was a constant draft it was freezing in the winter one of the reasons I finally decided to move. The heater was never able to actually heat up the place as it is right by the window&with the cold air blowing in it had no chance -The super Andrew is rather rude&very unhelpful. Rule number one “its always the tenants fault”. -In 6y the windows were cleaned once, I think 2y in. By the end when I moved out the windows were so nasty outside it was a disgrace given the views you have. -Mgt didn’t bother putting up signs on maximum occupancy in elevator or mask wearing so naturally no one bothered it’s a pandemic -Mgt doesn’t care. Plain&simple. My neighbours were terrible&the cops showed up several times due to domestic disturbance I didn’t bother calling anymore after a while but other neighbours did&we reached out to Mgt asking what they are planning on doing, surely if the cops show up every 6 weeks it cannot be good. Nothing was done. -There is limited bike storage space so make sure you ask if there is space, also, the bike storage is jam-packed with stuff from the building, spare materials, spare equipment etc which made it really hard to take out the bike or put it back, very annoying having to navigate around massive boxes barely able to move&trying to get bike out. -Lastly, if you forget the key or lock yourself out, they charge you $25!! You pay decent rent&you have to pay to be let into your own apartment when you lock yourself out. Shouldn’t that be one of the basic benefits? Overall I wouldn’t recommend living there unless you get a stellar deal&don’t plan to stay for more than 1-2y. Hindsight I wish I would have moved earlier. I am now in a different bldg close by&I am amazed how much better quality of windows, heating, insulation, offerings in the building is&when I locked myself out it was no hassle to be let in, no additional charge. Mgt here is not impressive either but I have given up on that.
Just moved in today and great experience so far Daniel and Alex in the office were nice and super helpful throughout the entire renting process. I did have a lot of questions but they always responded quickly and patiently. Moving in was easy, just follow the steps they provided and you will be fine. The concierge was super nice as well. The view in the room was great, just need to wait for furnitures to arrive and I’m ready to go.
