We had a good stay while we were there. Lots of construction going on, I suppose getting ready for the summer season. Expensive to stay but would probably be worth it during the summer when everything is open. Staff was friendly and helpful of local things to do.

Placed a deposit on 2-3 week stay starting the last week of October. Had to postpone arrival by a week due to father passing away unexpectedly. Less than a week prior to our revised arrival date of 11/4 we were told our rate was increasing by $60 a week, but we could continue at original confirmed rate if we paid for our stay in advance. The next day I called to provide payment for our stay to secure original rate and was then told that we had to pay for arrival on 10/31 to maintain original pricing for our stay thus paying for days we weren’t even there. No cable at site they placed us in for 1st 2 days. Then no water for a day due to water line freezing. We then had to Move to lower level since they were closing down the upper part of the facility. We knew they closed that section down and asked them when we checked in why they were putting us up there to begin with, but the staff couldn’t clarify why we were put there. The staff are very nice although they cannot make a decision without consulting a difficult owner. Very scenic and beautiful for hiking and views, sites are average size (38’’ class A) but not very level. Pulled in straight to LL site to access hookups. They Are currently expanding, but the pool area looks much nicer in photos and could use an upgrade. Laundry appeared clean, but didn’t use due to cost. Chose this park for proximity to NYC and because it is open year round but feel it is far to expensive for what you get.

Like many of the reviews below 1. The staff is awesome friendly and helpful The not so good... Super expensive especially for off season. For the price you would hope for paved and some what level sites. The sites are crushed rock so it’s pretty dirty. For our needs and what we did it worked out but its overpriced but as they say “that’s New York...”

I am so sad today to post my first and hopefully only one star review. Black Bear Campground has the potential to be a lovely campground, and from the reviews, it is in the summer. But WINTER TRAVELERS BEWARE. The beautiful, paved, tree and grass filled spots are not available all year around and they will not tell you that. They will tell you that they are one of the few places that are open year around, and they repeat the vague language of the website about availability. Supply and demand baby! The winter sites are an ugly gravel filled parking lot, and honestly I would have been ok with that if I had been told or seen pictures. The rates are already exorbitant, they should have a winter discount as you will not receive the experience that a summer guest will. To top it off when I asked about the nicer sites and asked for a discount I was stonewalled and made to feel like it was my fault. Shady practices and what I felt to be a bait and switch on the sites left me feeling like I can’t wait to leave. My pictures were taken of the site as we found it (those are not not my cigarettes or beer cans).

What a great place! Staff is friendly and facilities are clean. The sites are well kept. The office has a well stocked store for your RV needs. the only drawback was we could not get wifi from our site. We will definitely come back to stay when in the area again. Nice scenery... close to Town and nearby Warwick, NY.
