Disturbing experience with one of their security staff. Let me preface by saying that I was 100% sober, and with a friend, waiting in line on the second floor to enter the terrace. It was around 1:00AM. Next thing I feel is somebody grabbing me and pushing me aside, screaming at me “move! Move! Can’t you hear me.” It was one of their security guards showing off his “authority” to his entourage, trying to cut the line for his friends while shoving me aside. I was so shocked, I had no idea what was happening. I am waiting in line and talking to a friend of mine. I promptly head to the bar and request to talk with the manager. Spoke with someone by the name of Andre. He did apologize to me and we had a cordial conversation. Next thing I see, is this security came back and tells me I need to go. Again, I have no clue what this guy’s problem is. His facial expression showed that he clearly was inebriated due to substance use. I ask to confirm “Am I getting kicked out?” He says “yes.” Sure. I will leave. I was leaving anyways as I don’t feel safe at this place. He screams “follow me!” I reply “I am.” He then goes “get in front!” How the heck am I supposed to follow you when I am in front of you? Anyhow. During this time I start recording, because I am genuinely feeling unsafe with this aggressive dude. I also speak with another manager at the entrance by the name of Terrance. Also a super nice guy. I am in my mid thirties and have had my fair share of going to concerts and bars and venues, and I have never experienced anything like this. This place is unsafe based on other reviews I’ve read, so be careful.
Never been here before, but definitely will return. They have all day happy hour on Sundays, which is nice to have. I stepped from the happy hour burger to the Dive Burger. And man! It was delicious. I really like the fries, it seemed like they added rosemary or some herb to give it a nice taste and it was crunchy. The bartender we had was very nice and attentive. Definitely likes his one earring and sense of style. It also a cool spot to hang with a group at the couch area. And the tables are set up to have pizza to share.
came here for happy hour and was not disappointed!! we got a side fries which were so good and it’s just what u imagine when u order fries - i feel like some places don’t put enough effort in their fries/are doing too much - and also ordered the oyster specials for the day which were sooo good. eddy was great at helping us choose the oysters and explaining the taste/origin! absolutely loved everything about blackjack!!
I really had a good day time when I visited. The food was so good... And the frozen Pina colada was bomb!
Pretty fun till you have to take a leak, then you're standing in line for 30 minutes for 2 bathrooms. Bring a Gatorade bottle for a more expedient experience.
Racist bar when you’re black and trying to have fun with friends. Bouncers are rude and judgmental. As you’re hanging out with feiends, they use violence and force because they don’t like the way you look. I highly recommend going somewhere else.
Yummy drinks. Over priced. Cool vibe. Decent atmo.
Yummy drinks and nice waiters. We were a decent sized group of girls who just took a corner booth in the back so we can laugh and giggle. However with it being a Tuesday night, the tables at the back were empty. With the booth out of sight of the bar, the waiter never checked up on us. Not a big deal as we can just go to the bar to order. We were there mainly to hang out and talk anyways so didn't need much service.
I love this bar. It has a great atmosphere and a solid happy hour deal. Plus, their food is spot on and better than standard bar food. It can get louder on the weekends, but its a great spot for a weekday date or a meetup with friends.
Absolutely the most favorite happy hour in DC on Sundays. It's all day. Oysters, and all menu items are reduced price. Dive burger is heaven. All this in a dimly lit atmosphere is the best way to mentally prepare for the Monday ahead.
