Black Mountain

Enjoyed the hike - 6 miles out and back over 160 floors in elevation gain, could see several solar installations and panoramic views over 50 miles in the distance. We started at 2pm and finished at 6:15pm - just as the sun set and casinos lit up.

Beautiful and hard hike with amazing views of Las Vegas and Lake Mead to the East. The trail is about 8 miles out and back depending on where you start in the neighborhood. You can make a great loop by heading north off of Black Mountain and coming down the North ridge, but be prepared for some route finding as it's not well marked. At the top you'll find a trail registry and a flag. The last 0.25 mile of the trail is very steep and you'll be climbing over boulders, but the rest of the trail is well marked and not too steep. Make sure you get an early start as there's no shade or water on the trail.

Have to do a little bit of scrambling in the last 1/4 mile. Awesome view of the whole valley.
