Coach Frank was able to get me on countless waves during my first time on a surfboard! During my lesson, I was able to stand for the overwhelming majority of the session, and caught SO MANY WAVES. He taught me the importance of body strength and mobility, then focused fundamentals of the surfboard and how to navigate it. Once we got into the water, he coached me through the waves and got me standing in less than 3 waves. As the session progressed, I got more confident and Coach Frank taught me how to stand up faster and even how to read the waves. Coach Frank is more than just a surf instructor. He understands the value of on the ground health and happiness. I really enjoyed his friendly demeanor and his teaching style. He even offered to help me find spots to surf and equipment for when I get back home.
We did a seven person group surf lesson on our trip to Hawaii. We chose Blue Ocean because of their flexible time slots and the excellent customer service I received from Frank over the phone. He was delightful to speak to and returned calls promptly. Ivan and Matteus were our instructors. Two young and polite gentlemen with a passion for the sport. Reef boots and rash guards were provided and very helpful. They did their training thoroughly and quickly which gave us a ton of time in the water. Everyone was able to get up and catch as many waves as we had the stamina for. Highly recommend this wonderful team. Thank you guys!
I took a private 1:1 lesson with Coach Frank. Frank is very friendly and helpful throughout the session, it started with some background of himself and surfing, then we stretched together. Frank showed me some fundamentals on land, thereafter, we progressed out to the water. I was able to catch quite a few waves and give them a long ride on my third try. It isn't as crowded as other areas therefore, making this section a little better to learn if you like to have a little more of your own space. I'd totally recommend taking lessons with Coach Frank, you won't regret it! Mahalo, Kean
We took a beginner course. It started with background on the board, stretching, some quick instruction on land, then we were out surfing! Both my wife and I caught waves quickly, had some nice long rides. The location was good, not nearly as crowded as Waikiki beach, and we caught a lot of waves and basically had the entire section of water to ourselves. Coach Frank is a great guy! Thank you
Finished the Level 1 introductory course with Blue Ocean Breeze Surf School and I caught a few waves all on my own! Frank is super social and easy to get along with. He provides a good explanation of the basics and can help you stand up and catch a wave pretty quickly. He’s patient and gives lots of positive reinforcement for those who need it. Aside from the main surfing instructions he also taught me all the minor basics such as surf terminology, how to carry a board, how to put on the leash, paddling basics, falling off the board, etc. Crucial to learn all this from an actual surfer as most surf school won’t teach you this. When you’re out on your own without an instructor learning all these little nuances are really helpful. Also, Frank shared a ton of and tricks to look less like a beginner and more like a real surfer! Highly recommend if you want to get some lessons in a much less crowded beach area. Low chance of you crashing into other surfers or getting in the way of regulars. Thank you Frank! Will def bring my friends to learn from you next time
My 9yo daughter had the best time at surf camp with Coaches Frank, Ivan, Kaimana and Hoa. Camp was 5 hours a day for 5 days. It was easy to find their tent at Ala Moana Beach Park near the volley ball courts. I loved that Coach posted reels on his instagram throughout the day; seeing the kids active, happy and engaged along the way made me so happy. Camp has left my daughter more interested in surfing then ever and she’s asked if she can continue individual lessons with Blue Ocean Breeze, I’ll be in touch!
Me and my wife had a lesson with Frank. His teaching style is patient, encouraging, and highly effective. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, Frank's guidance ensures a positive and rewarding surfing experience. This was our first lesson and felt safe in the water. We even caught some long waves.
We had the best time learning to surf with Frank! My husband, 9-year-old son, and I had an unforgettable experience. We all were able to stand up and catch some waves. We felt totally safe and comfortable with Frank’s positive guidance. We even got to see sea turtles!

Frank was very accommodating and an awesome instructor. The private lesson was the best setting for my family wife,9yo son and myself. Safety and instruction gone over from the basics explaining how and why made everything click. Frank was an excellent motivator. Mahalo!
