It was our first time at this interesting place 2 years ago with friends for my birthday, while we were visiting Maine, Portland. The place was crowded and the atmosphere was chic. The employees were very cheerful and friendly, the menu was not boring, the variety of seafood was wide, well, obviously but not only. In general, researches of local places and reviews did not disappoint us and we ended up here. I recommend to everyone who will be in Maine, Portland, check this cool place out! Thank you for the memories.
All around this is a great place to stop and enjoy a meal, Highly recommend!! Dinner was fantastic, compliments to the chef! Starters we had the scallops and calamari which were DELICIOUS!! We had the baked stuffed lobster, lobster risotto, and the clam chowder, all of which was cooked to perfection!!! Nick was outstanding!! He made great recommendations and took great care of our table!! Thank you again from your Colorado and Texas table!! We ate the calamari before taking a photo and got into the scallops before we took the photo, so you only see 1 of the 4 amazing tasting appetizers!
Absolutely amazing food. Great atmosphere. Don't let the harbor like feel detour you from this place. The food is amazing. Everything I had was great. Great for large groups and you can tell the chef takes pride in his creation. Have the clam chowder it was so good.
I walked right by this place. Super busy all over on the boardwalk. It sits right behind Gilbert's Chowder House. It was a gorgeous day out, and thought I'd give it a try. The hostess must have read my energy, she knew just where to sit me - upstairs in far corner table. Just beautiful. Made it quite hard to leave. I had the Newberg Top-over: scallops, haddock, and chewy lobster as it's still hard shell season in sherry sauce. Some of the fish was still cold and not cooked correctly in the sauce. The waiter would've known that had he stopped and asked how the food was. He did fill my water glass often though. I would order the swordfish next time I go.
Recommended by locals for the seafood fare. I went in a bit early to avoid the dinner time crush. Food was quite good as expected and well presented. The restaurant itself was quiet with a softly lit interior dominated by dark wood tones. An active fireplace provided a nice comforting touch. Oddly, the music selection was '80s and '90s pop which was, I think, disjointed given the surroundings but not jarringly so; maybe it's just because I'm a jazz guy. Staff were polite and professional but a bit impersonal. Prices were as expected given the quality of the food and the reputation of the establishment. Definitely worth a visit.
Great ambiance for a nice dinner. Ate here with colleagues, and got the fried calamari, scallops, the lobster ravioli, and the stuffed lobster. All of it was astounding! Our waiter Nick was also very diligent, attentive, and friendly. He even gave us some advice on things we should do, see, and other restaurant option for our stay here!!! Highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: I did see a gluten free lobster option on the menu
One of my favorites places to get a lobster roll in downtown Portland. Boones is great and offers a cozy vibe inside plus a large balcony for those nice summer days. The food is incredible. I love the rolls, the clam chowder, and the lobster Mac & cheese. The raw bar is great too so make sure you try some oysters. The Tito’s lobster bloods is a must try for all you bloody fans.
Dog friendly restaurant down by the water. My experience was so-so. The hostess was very nice and she even went out of her way to bring a water bowl for our dog. However, our waiter forgot to put in our entree order I appreciate the honestly but I had already waited for 20 or so minutes after our appetizer so he clearly forgot about us. I understand that it was busy but we were probably in the restaurant for an hour at this point. Then he said there was no pasta left for the night which was a bit odd in my opinion since we went in around 7:40pm. We just left promptly after without tasting any of the entree. The calamari and oysters were good though. Drinks was so-so and over priced as most things are in Portland. With so many similar restaurants in the area, I wouldn’t come back.
My husband and I just went here for dinner the other night. What caught my eye was the stuffed lobster that was recommended by everyone in the reviews I read. We went early and was seated right away. If they give you a choice to sit on lower or upper deck, choose upper deck. It’s a beautiful view up there. Our server was on top of water refills before we would have to ask, along with bringing our appetizer and side dish out first. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer, for a side the lobster Mac ‘n’ cheese . For the Main dishes we went with the stuffed lobster and the steamed lobster . All the food was extremely yummy and the perfect temperature. I would definitely recommend the stuffed lobster !!! We were so lobstered out by the time we left. It was a great way to end our trip to Maine, by having an all lobster meal with crab cakes!!! I would recommend all the dishes we had. By the time we left the place was hopping!!!
Great seafood restaurant on the water. Its a 2 story restaurant with an outdoor deck upstairs where you sit directly overlooking the harbor. I had seafood Newburg in a popover. It was delicious! My bride had fried haddock which she said was the freshest she ever tasted. They have a nice selection of draft beer. Great restaurant with a great view.
