Minimalistic Italian foods shop. The menu and food in the display case looked promising. I ordered a hero instead from the handwritten menu. There are a variety of egg sandwich options but I went the more classic route and opted for the chicken parmigiana. Service was quick and my order was ready within 10 minutes. The bread itself was good. However, as a whole, I’d say the chicken parmigiana sandwich was quite the opposite. Strangely, the sauce used for the sandwich was sweet. Yes, sweet—tasted somewhat like a sweetened version of Vodka sauce. As for the chicken, needed more breading. I may give this spot another try as other reviewers seem to have enjoyed their sandwich choice and I may have just come on an off day.
After a long awaited trip to New York to eat one of my favorite sandwiches, I was a bit underwhelmed by this experience. The sauce was a bit on the sweeter side in the chicken parm sandwich - takes away from the sandwich agreeing with one of the other reviewers. I also got a mediocre croissant, which I didn’t eat more than a bite.
Someone in this place clearly LOVES food. Every item is packed with complex flavors. I had a smoked trout hero not a common item in a NY deli and it was great. Chicken and chicken salad were also excellent when I've had them.Food: 5/5
Every once in a while we will treat ourselves for a walk down the street to grab some generously stuffed breakfast sandwiches. So many choices in that handwritten menu, but guanciale is a favorite. May as well pick up some of the tasty bits from the prepared food case - meatballs, cauliflower, or swing back for the roast chicken.
Classic Italian take-out shop with a hand-written menu of delicious breakfast and lunch sandwiches and a display case of cold treats - pasta salads, rotisserie chicken. Anything with the fluffy eggs, garlicky broccolini or flavourful eggplant caponata are a home run, and the meatloaf and meatballs are definite winners. Every sandwich comes on a long, tender sesame with a touch of crunch. No seating save for a bench out front but take a quick jaunt to the park around the corner for a tasty picnic.
Had green eggs and ham. Pesto stirred into egg white with cheese and prosciutto. Really, really great. Flakey bread, just the right amount of oil, coffee is also excellent which was a nice surprise. I am a convert to this spot!
Brancaccio’s is one of those places that will make you feel like a New Yorker. This small, Windsor Terrace staple serves up legendary food including a meatball sandwich, for which they are known in addition to some specialty groceries and I believe they also do catering. This generational eatery will not disappoint, as my partner and I regularly walk over to grab sandwiches before making another pit stop at Steeplechase next door for some coffee. This is one of my favorite places in Brooklyn, in fact I’ll be strolling over there later today for one of those sandwiches I mentioned. They sell out, so you should go there now. Although they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
I’ve been here many times in the past few months and everything I’ve ordered has been delicious. Highly recommend the pesto pasta, eggplant parm on weekends and the smoked salmon egg sandwich. Definitely a highlight of the neighborhood and a kind staff.
Best sandwiches in the Kensington/Windsor Terrace Borderlands. Bonus points for proximity to Sean Casey dog walking.Food: 5/5
Legit magical, with no pomp or pretense. Joe and his crew have mastered the art of the sandwich, and the prepared food is also incredibly flavorful with a home-cooked feel. This is food thought out and made with love. Everything is consistently delicious, so you really can’t go wrong. I’m fortunate to live close enough for this be my regular lunch spot; the unfortunate part is I’m spoiled for life
