A variety of delicious and affordable pastries! Came here around 10 am and bought a pork bun and pineapple bun. The bread was soft and tastes fresh.
Excellent quality baked bread snacks! Each one is $2.00. Very nice staff and good coffee. This place almost reminds me of Luculu's in Hong Kong about 35 years ago.
The items in this place are ONO and have a large variety of yummy goods to choose from, and don't forget the cheesecake! I feel the prices are also very fair considering the freshness of the items. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.
Really fantastic friend brought coconut tart to Christmas gathering and found out it was from Bread House on Maunakea street. Went down on Wednesday afternoon to see if there was any left and was in luck. They had 3 left at 1pm- snatched them up! Went to pay at cashiers and saw a young boy manning the station. In my mind this is the disgruntled owners young son forced to be cashier. No offense but thats pretty typical for kids to help out and pitching in for family right? No, nothing wrong with that. End of the day and adults probably cleaning up in the back? Anyways asked for 2x strawberry mousse cake slices and he packed them into a small white foam container. Total was $12 +tax, he collected my 20 and I received the change. OOPS! My fault told him I needed 2x separate containers since the strawberry mousse was a snack going to 2x different people. He was nice enough to pack them in 2 different containers. UGH, BUTTTTTT he used his fingers to pack them. I mean he grabbed the clear plastic sheet that lined the sides of cake but still-he did not use a tong or sanitize his hands after handling the cash. UGH, thats a big no-no handling food after handling cash and filthy coins in a drawer!!! YIKES, um- love the baked goods here but never coming again. Cant afford to get sick. Chucked that sucker in the trash- Oh well!
My go to place for hands down DA best light as air sponge cakes, coconut cream buns, and raisen bread. Who am I kidding, everything else is heavenly too! I have been a customer for years. Go early as they run out frequently. Everything is made fresh daily. Their tiaramisu is delicious , and more cake like. They are not stingy with coco powder. Its a friendly, family-operated, local business. Anna operates the register, her husband does his magic in the kitchen. They even have their teenage son helping sometimes. Try their celebration cakes for all your parties. The cakes are light, not too sweet , and made with whipped topping.
Went around 3pm, looked like they had sold out of most of their items but I found a mini cream cheese donut and loved it. Ended up taking a half dozen back to my hotel. The folks I was with got a brownie and a slice of strawberry shortcake and they both said they were very good. Heads up, they are cash only.
My boyfriend introduced me to this Chinese bakery several years ago. Everything is fresh and delicious. If you like pastries and cakes that are not too sweet, and taste super yummy, then get your butt over here. You won't be disappointed. Arrive early, as they sell out quickly. Its a family-run, local business. The owners also work there, and are friendly. Sometimes their teenage son works the cash register. They only accept cash, btw. I love their sponge cakes. The bf's faves are coconut cream buns, almond sticks, sponge cakes, and raisen twists. His daughter also loves the sponge cakes, and gets the hot dog rolls alot. His grandson inhales the cream buns in seconds. I am impressed by the consistent, fresh quality everytime. Also, I love their tiaramisu. It may not be authentic Italian, but its super yummy, and not to too sweet. A+ in my book.
I came across this place by chance.. I had seen a dim sum place on Instagram that looks promising and passed this place en route.. The dim sum place wasn’t open just yet. It was 7am and I wanted to bring some goodies to work... Sooo I back tracked and went to the Bread House.. I was not disappointed. They have a variety of pasties, the dough is so soft, melt in your mouth.. Coconut cream and coconut flake buns Custard buns.. are my favorites.. There’s also: curry chicken hot dog with and without cheese spam ham pineapple raisin there is more.. but those are the ones my sons and I have tried and all were perfect.. Located on Maunakea off of Hotel Street, next door to the police department.. All the buns I have purchased were $1.80 or less.. Highly recommended! my friend calls it bread on crack-bc it’s addicting
