I came from Ms for a colonoscopy . From my initial consultation, to being wheeled out after my procedure, I was treated kindly and professionally by EVERYONE.. I so appreciate the kindness shown toward me. I highly recommend this facility !

Dr. Barranco is an Amazing doctor he listens and he doesn’t just give you mediation but he partners with you and is invested in helping you regain your health. Also, his staff are very polite and thorough making sure they gather all information needed to ensure your visit/care runs smoothly.

Do your research and know that there are other options. My prescription was written incorrectly and misspelled on my follow up sheet after a colonoscopy/endoscopy, this mistake was blamed on the fact that he just dictates to the device what he wants typed and it was the devices error that he failed to catch. I needed to talk to his office multiple times while experiencing different side effects many severe from medications he prescribed. Any time I tried to contact this office it seemed to be a large inconvenience to him and his team at Brookwood Medical Center. For example I called at 9:00AM to explain that my hands and feet were going numb throughout the day, a quick google search told me that this was an uncommon side effect and to contact my doctor immediately. My call was not returned that day so I called again at 4:40, unfortunately they stop taking calls at 4:30 so I was directed to the nurse on call who said I “should probably skip the medication” that night and wait until the next day when he could review my call from the previous morning. This is one of at least 5 examples of a lack of or failed communication with his office. The one time I actually spoke to Dr. Barranco just before my colonoscopy/endoscopy my questions and my parents questions seemed stupid to him and like I was truly inconveniencing him by existing. Overall a horrible experience with him.

Addressed my concerns immediately and put me at ease

Having an excellent and attentive Gastro Physician and that being with Dr. Brent Barranco! I couldn’t ask for a better physician that is both caring and attentive to my Gastro needs. I wouldn’t use any other Gastro physician but Dr. Brent Barranco for my Gastro needs!

Dr. B saved my quality of life. I had suffered for over a decade with a chronic condition and he was the only doctor who took the time to fully diagnose it and send me to another specialist to help me with other aspects of it. He stays up on the latest research and asks me questions to help fill in his database of practical information. He has worked with me on adjusting medications and dosages when the insurance company is being a pain. He will stand up for his patients against the insurance companies. I owe him a lot and have been a happy patient for 11 years now. Other doctors in Birmingham recognize him as one of the best gastro docs in the state. He also has excellent nurse practitioners that can help with routine matters.

Dr Barranco gave me a cancer diagnosis 3rd stage and had been there for a long time. At that moment I felt I had a death sentence. He held my hand and said no one can put a time line on your life . he told me he is a God fearing Christian and that he had seen miracles happen inside his family and out . God was performing them. He told me he was referring to best Dr to take care if me. I currently under Dr Adler now for cancer Dr Barrancos referring. I'm also still having surgery every 2 months through Dr Battanci. I could have had another Dr who could have dropped this bomb and left everything to me but he was amazing thank God for him

Dr. Barranco and Ginger are two of the most caring and compassionate healthcare professionals I have ever used. They are always there when I need them, caring for me.
