They have an amazing selection of fountain pen inks, and the staff were super helpful! I spent a long time testing out pens until I found the one I wanted, and they were super helpful with the process, recommending different pens to me and helping me weigh the pros and cons eventually got a Pilot Custom 74. If you're in the Boston area and looking for a new pen, thks is the place to go!
Excellent shop with quite a range of pens and inks. Pens from a few dollars to high end pieces. It’s fun to have somewhere local to get to see so many popular brands.
I have a small fountain pen collection, but they were all sourced online. I visited Bromfield after a quick online search for a local pen shop. They definitely exceeded expectations. All of the pens and accessories one would expect, an impressive array of inks and a surprising amount of notebooks and sketchpads. After looking around, I finally spoke with the staff, who were all informative and friendly. I was interested in one of their display case pens, so they pulled it out and dipped it in ink so I could test write it on the spot. I loved how the pen felt, but it was in an EF nib and I was in the market for a stub. "Oh, we can do that." On the spot, they checked their stock of spare nibs. When they didn't have one, they took another complete, ready-to-sell pen and swapped the nib out of it. That was a shock! I walked out of the store with the pen, a converter for it, and an ink I had been looking for. I look forward to coming back when their in-house repair specialist is around, because I have another pen that has been not writing very well.
One of the best pen shops in the US. Always with new old stock and new pens to delight! I always call in when I am on Boston. As well as a fine selection of very good pens, they stock the occasional second hand item, and what I consider unusual pens. A good selection of paper and a really stunningly wide selection of ink, as a London resident I have to say it's better than any shop we have!! The two ladies here are amazing and open up cabinets so you can just browse with no pressure. I love it.
DON'T GO TO BLOOMFIELD ST. It's a misunderstanding that Google Maps refuses to correct. But the real location — Appelbloom at 49 Bromfield St. — is a delightful little pen shop.
Great guy to help me choose my new rollerball. Love the vibe and highly recommend.
Went in to get last minute customized gifts for my groomsmen. Was really impressed with the selection! The staff was really kind and helpful and managed to get me engraved fountain pens rapidly.
Always a pleasant experience here. Helpful and friendly staff. I got exactly what I wanted in the price range I was looking for.
Cool little pen shop conveniently located in downtown. It’s not easy to find fountain pen ink in a physical store these days.
I have visited this pen shop twice. The first time, I purchased a Sailor pen. Very reasonable price and the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. They even gave me a phone charger to use while I was browsing their excellent selection of pens. The second time I visited I purchased three bottles of ink. On one ink bottle, the cap was slightly loose some customer most likely opened it; as a PSA please ask for staff help if you want to view an ink at any shop! when I took it off the shelf so I spilled a bit of ink on my hands. No big deal at all, but the staff went above and beyond to help me clean myself up and then even gave me a discount on the inks for my troubles! Overall this pen shop is a wonderful place with excellent selection, fair prices, and extraordinary staff. I would highly recommend it to anyone!
