This is the best gym I have ever been to. Never crowded, can go any time. Tons of squat racks and areas to do functional/hiit workouts. If you are living in Williamsburg skip Equinox, Vital and grind house. You can't beat this place.
The place is ran by family and familiar. Employee by family or familiar There is a guy..... My family have swimmed in there lined pools for months And then we have this guy kicked my family out of the lane pool. That we reserve Not to mention the pool I almost never available. Because it turned green or they have put too much shock In it _to restore alkaline PH and Chloride. Oh by the way shock means heavily chlorinated water "Oh yeah we have a swim group coming in" Yes but we have already reserved that lane He said "I know the owner and what I know goes" ILL PAY EXTRA to get what I ORIGINALLY paid for.
Ample room, plenty of equipment, friendly staff. You never have to fight people for a squat rack here! They have pretty much everything you might want for Oly, powerlifting, and general strength training. They have some really strong air filters too which makes me feel more comfortable working out there in the age of COVID. My only small quibble: the bench press stations upstairs are...the racks pivot a few degrees, rather than being fixed. It really surprised me when I started my bench setup. It doesn't work that well for powerlifters who want to use the rack to pull themselves into an aggressive arch. You can pull an adjustable bench into a power cage instead, it's a bit more work to set up.
Fantastic gym - not too busy and lots of squats racks / deadlift platforms
This gym is full on in the best sense. They have classes for a wide range of fitness levels. They have equipment and space for serious lifters and beginner gym goers. As a transgender person I wasn’t sure how comfortable I would be going to this gym. I’ve been coming for a year now and feeling pretty at home and most recently decided to learn how to weight lift with John who is a super good trainer. I highly recommend this gym, its clean and professional which is essential.
Great gym!! Began going to BAC at the beginning of the year. Clean, spacious, professional staff. I do yoga about once a week and Brandi’s class is amazing! Highly recommend taking yoga with her.
Incredible space, amazing community, and supportive trainers. I have been a proud member for over 4 years and it is hands down the best gym experience I have ever had. The facility is fantastic - open floor plan, infrared saunas, and rooftop yoga - but it's the people that make this place so special. Larry and his team are the kindest and most considerate people you will find in this industry and being a part of this community has driven me to completely re-think my relationship with working out I left crossfit for BAC and never looked back.
I have been going to Brooklyn Athletic Club for 3 weeks now and really love it. I had been working out in my small apartment's gym and wanted a full-service gym with more barbells and equipment to do more compound lifts. I met with Paul the head trainer and asked about personal training. After hearing my goals, Paul suggested I do semi-private training as it was much less expensive and he thought I would get more out of it. I greatly appreciate the fact that Paul consciously thought about how he could save me money while achieving all my goals. I have been going BAC and doing the semi-private training for 3 weeks now and I can only say positive things. I feel very confident in all my heavy lifts, and feel the training I have received is top notch. Particularly, Paul and Bravo are amazing trainers, very encouraging, and make me excited to wake up at 5:30 for a 6am training session. The gym has a very close-knit community feel. All the other clients in the semi-private training are very nice and everyone encourages you. It is also great to see Larry, the owner, there at all times. He will always throw in his own encouragement even if he isn't personally training. Anyone who is serious about getting fit should consider BAC.
This is one of the best gyms in the city hands down. The facilities are new and well maintained, and there's plenty of equipment, but that's not what makes it stand out. What makes this THE gym to join if you're looking is the trainers and group training classes. Whether your goal is to lose weight or get buff or work through an injury the staff and the classes here will make that happen. Join!
Quiet upstairs weight room with great selection, third floor yoga room with gorgeous view of the park and tennis courts at McCarren. Loud main floor with meatheads dropping huge weights, cringe-worthy and makes you worry for their knees. Sadly that main floor shtick seems to be their main draw, and so the flavor of personalities is reflected therein. Cute little sauna in bathroom is nice, when it's working which is most of the time and when there aren't others in it. Solid service.
