The BWS has now been a lifesaving oasis for me over the course of four novels. The quiet zen of the space combined with the unobtrusive companionship and inspiration of other dedicated writers creates some sort of a magic formula that I haven’t found anywhere else. Forget writing at home; even compared to working in a solo office which I did over the course of the pandemic it’s a place where I almost always find “the zone” immediately, and then stay in it for hours. I‘ve thanked this marvelous place in the acknowledgements of all of my books, and am so grateful to be back—highly, highly recommend!
This is such a sanctuary in Brooklyn -- a truly quiet space with working writers. The staff is personable and kind, and I've gotten so much work done here! Can be affordable to try out on a daily rate if you're interested!
I’ve loved writing here the last few months. It’s always peaceful and well-maintained, the chairs are comfortable, the desks spacious, and there’s a lovely clean kitchen! Emerging from so much isolation over the last few years, I so appreciate the company of other devoted writers while also finding comfort in our mutual embrace of a quiet, respectful working space.
I wrote most of my first book here coming out in 2023. The culture here is both chill and warm, unpretentious and supportive. Unlike other more spendy places, BWS has all the little details for work, like phone booths, wifi, printer and actually good coffee, without coworking vibes like tech bros or overpriced snacks. Also: spacious! Giant couch to read on and a sunny lounge. Real writers get work done here. Also, affordable. The founder is a writer too, who treats BWS like a cultural community space, and the rates are low.
This is a great spot to write, especially if you like it quiet. The owners are really nice too and there’s plenty of space to write. I’ve never come and hadn’t been able to find a spot.
This place has made a huge difference to me as a writer over the last several years! It's affordable, it's beautiful, it's quiet and comfortable, and the ownership is kind and cares deeply about the mission. I've spent a lot of late nights here working through projects and it's like a second home. Can't recommend it enough.
I have been a member at BWS for many years. It is a very affordable quiet place unlike coffee shops or even the local library where I can think, write and work without interruption. I like being surrounded by industrious humans who do not disrupt me in any way. GREAT PLACE!
I've been working at Brooklyn Writers Space for a year now, and it's hard to imagine my life without it. It's spacious, tranquil, comfortable -- just an ideal place to write. But I'm writing this review to reflect what a great job Scott, the owner, has done in keeping the space open and safe during the pandemic. Capacity is limited, everyone carefully follows mask rules, the space is outfitted with two professional air cleaners and sanitized frequently, and the online desk reservation system allows you to decide where to sit ahead of your arrival. BWS has always been a great place to work, but it's really helped me stay sane and productive during the pandemic.
Brooklyn Writers Space is a fabulous place to work. Comfortable, convenient and safe. I love working there!
A great place to work. Private desk, comfortable, very quiet, nice ambiance. Outdoor space, lounge and kitchen ordinarily. Open 24 hours. Scott, one of the owners is a pleasure to know and interact with. Lockers available too.
