Out of the countless Brown Jug Liquor stores in Anchorage, this is one of the better ones. It's clean, and the employees are helpful and friendly. Suprising, as it's located on a corner where the bums tend to congregate. As a result, some will actually ask you to buy liquor for them. You will need your ID for any transaction, as you do in every place that sells liquor or tobacco. No ID, no sales.
Great selection for such a small store and very friendly staff
Small selection of just basic most common spirits, beer and wine
I was disappointed at this location. I had trouble with the ID scanner outside completely user error since I hadn't used it before, but the only person who helped me was an exasperated customer who was leaving as I was trying to get the scanner to work. In the ten minutes I was in there, three other people had similar difficulties and only one of those people was assisted by an employee at any point. I am sure the staff is tired of dealing with those of us who aren't used to the scanner, but it really could have been a better experience with decent customer service. I did hear one of the employees mention that all the Brown Jug locations will eventually have the scanners... I hope that by the time they roll that out, they have either clearer directions posted or have a plan in place for training their customers. I think the technology is a great idea, having worked in liquor stores myself, but it seems poorly executed. Other than that, the selection is small but adequate. However, I would recommend the location at the corner of Boniface and Northern Lights instead. Better selection and pleasant staff.
Little positively biased because I worked here. I don't like brown jug corporate because it seems someone apparently related to someone important and complain about something you have no control over can call and mess up your career trajectory... but neither here nor there. Recommend the store, not as a place of employment.
Closing half an hour early at least every night.
I have been frequenting this liquor store for many years. They now have a ID scanner on the outside of the door, essentially treating their customers like suspected criminals. I understand that they might get a few bad people now and again, but those people can enter when someone is leaving. All the scanner is doing is treating their regular customers poorly. So I have chosen not to use this place anymore.
Nice staff. Have not been there enough. They location seems to like its doing better. They use to have security outside that would i.d. before you go in. Last two times I went there was not security outside
This place is pretty much a dump. You need to scan your license to get in the door. Limited selection and hours.
Been here 15 mins before 1am but staff said they are closed . Since i know they suppose to close by 1 am, .i just don’t understand .staff with ponytail is kinda rude! Bad experience
